It doesn't take the matter any further... just attempts to link to all that has happened so far. Truly bizzarro.

I am appearing on an Auckland radio station to discuss the story in roughly 40 minutes. It is now 11.42am NZT and I suspect about 6.42pm EST.

1. please note the important info......
....that the exposure of Gannon has put in place the most important result we could have hoped for -- the officers of the White House Correspondents Association met today with the WH press office to discuss the matter of credentialing.

The authority to credential originally was held by the WHCA. After WW2, for some reason, the authority was transferred to the WH.

Huge mistake, as we have seen with this WH's abuse of the authority by planting shills, by threatening and punishing reporters, and arguably by endangering national security through capricious access.

In February 2004, I ranted on the topic of credentialing authority on my blog. Gannon was the example I used for more rigor. (Little did I know that there was a sex component to his story.)

I'm very happy about the meeting today and hope it brings reform.

Incidentally, reporters who wish to cover Congress must be approved by a standing committee of five journalists. This is codified in the rules of the Congress. That's the way access to the WH should be spelled out, too.

4. that is an awesome link
because from bottom to top it's almost a time-line.

Ah, the sweet taste of vindication.

There is also a link on free republic where he makes a crack about the stain on the blue dress. Karma's a bitch, huh Jeff?

Funny to hear a couple Australians talking about the latest US scandal. I know it happens, it's just that it's so far away....
