And second, neocons have a cohesive (but repulsive) world view and agenda. Rush is merely a cheerleader for whatever Republican leader is in power, no matter what their ideas are.

5. Don't know about the gay stuff but

I'd heard many years ago that Rush began his career as a DJ named jeff Christie. He bounced all over the place playing rock'n'roll etc., with little success. The way I heard it he tried several different schticks before he stumbled on the right wing victimhood. Apparently this caught fire immediately and he exploited it. I think his first whine was in KC but was bankrolled into the bigger and better life.
I heard this on the Don & Mike show. They sometimes get off on other radio hosts. When Rush lost his hearing Don and Mike suggested it was due to Rush's drug use. This was LONG before any stories of Rush & drugs were out. Shortly there after Rush had a miracle 'cure'.
D&M's take on Rush is that is is just an act. If he could make money being a communist, he'd be a communist. Just an act.

his idea. A female station manager came up with the idea and Rush got the gig. He failed upward. (just like Newt...a wannabe professor denied tenure. So he got into politics).
The rightwing is often a haven for failures. Their following doesn't expect or understand competence.
I saw an A&E biography on Rush. He can't handle live audiences or confrontation. His show is more fixed than wrestling. He's a creation. It's sad. He's a closeted gay man who has to serially marry in order to hide his true self. He's addicted to a dangerous drug. He's gone deaf from drug use.
If he was a liberal, he'd have a greater chance to be happy with himself. Maybe he'd be with someone he truly loves on Valentine's Day.

I have heard the Jeff Christie stuff time and time again, and where there is smoke, there is fire.

Every time it's on DU it will come up as a google hit for someone searching, so I say post away.

are you trying to alienate your own allies?? try to see the big picture. The NeoCons used the Gay marriage issue on state ballots to create a strawman to bring out the paranoid religious right vote... and it worked.

Exposing the Neocon hypocrisy is important.. Exposing the constant stream of lies.. Maybe even the MSM will pick it up but we can only hope..

I will continue to defend gay rights in my debates with my Homophobe friends but do not have much interest in gay issues other than civil rights..
