He did some dirty work for the White House. .

The White House knew damn well who he was--and also about his sexcapades.

The White House will be distancing themselves from all of this--big time. They'll feign bewilderment and they'll publicly initiate new and improved press-security policies to appear truly concerned about all of this.

Gannon will be dropped like a hot rock. Maybe the realization that he's been used like a two-bit-whore and sacrificed at the altar of Rove--will spark a personal epiphany, and then he'll tell us what he knows.

16. In the short term, this is good...

...because it keeps the attention focused on "Gannon". It may spark a spine-sporting reporter to dig deeper and to focus on Plame, and the deeper White House angles.

However, it could be just a spark that will eventually die down--leaving the core issues (Plame, the White House knew, etc) buried.

If sex and nekkid stuff is what sparks the fire--then so be it. Let's just hope that these sparks grow into a fire where the real issues are burning.

We need just one reporter to care about the true story.

Karl Rove's forte is manipulation of the press and of public relations. You can bet he's covered his tracks well on this one, but if there were such a reporter (with a spine) there is a slim chance they could follow the money to where it will probably lead -- somewhere within the bowels of the WH.

The reporter may be a blogger but who cares. This is the most contemptuous thing that the WH could have done domestically. It's just amazing. They think that they are the "master minds" and that the country is filled with suckers. Well, this type of thing doesn't play well with the middle of the country. A poll on who people want to run for President in 2008 showed only 29% favorable and 59% unfavorable for Arnold. Want to know why? Because the non-California part of the country really objects to guys who play grab ass with women, take steroids and smoke pot, and dress up nearly naked with oil all over them. That's why Arnie is a non starter and that's why any connection of male hookers with the WH is so totally devastating.
