You'd Better Get Familiar With "REX 84"
"REX 84" is FEMA's secret plan to house us in 600+ Made-in-the-USA concentration camps.

Don't believe me? Check out these 4,500 web sites: :scared:  :scared:

1. Well, heck!
Now I won't have to worry about spending my old age living in a cardboard box under the highway overpass, after they kill off Social Security. They just think of everything, don't they?

2. I believe this was Ollie North's handiwork, was it not?
Edited on Mon Feb-14-05 12:51 PM by deutsey
This plan was exposed during the Iran/Contra scandals of the '80s. Not much, if anything, was ever done about it, as far as I know.

Concentration moon
Over the camp in the valley
Concentration moon
Wish I was back in the alley
With all of my friends,
Still running free:
Hair growing out
Every hole in me

American way
How did it start?
Thousands of creeps
Killed in the park
American way
Try and explain
Scab of a nation
Driven insane
Don't cry
Gotta go bye bye
Suddenly: die die
Cop kill a creep!
Pow pow pow

Concentration moon
Over the camp in the valley
Concentration moon
Wish I was back in the alley
With all of my friends,
Still running free:
Hair growing out
Every hole in me

American way
Threatened by us
Drag a few creeps
Away in a bus
American way
Prisoner: lock
Smash every creep
In the face with a rock

Don't cry
Gotta go bye bye
Suddenly: die die
Cop kill a creep!
Pow pow pow

3. 99.9% of Americans have no idea about these or FEMA's Powers
Most of them think that FEMA is the nice agency that hands out blankets, Water, Food and Generators after a Storm.

Wait till after a major Terrorist attack with Biological or nuclear weapons and see what they do....or how about when Americans finally figure out that the Bush Cabal and Neo-cons really have "taken" our country and their are mass protests and riots....

Then suddenely, they will wake up and realize what FEMA really is...

Yes, I'm familiar with Rex 84 and its frightening....most people I tell about this and FEMA don't believe me....As soon as they are finished chiseling away all our civil liberties and constitutional protections under the guise of "Patriot Act" and other measures, it will be possible for them to declare any of us Enemy Combatants or come up with reasons without any recourse to detain and contain people.

:scared:

7. This is the first I've heard of it
I have no idea what to think. I'd like see what FEMA says about it. Yeah, I know it'd be BS, but maybe it might help make a more educated guess.

I'd like to know where every one of these 600 camps are at and if they are being maintained. Who is keeping them up?

More information is needed.

11. We in Florida know that FEMA was brought out to take care....
...of the four major hurricane victims and I don't know of anyone with major damages to their homes and businesses yet in my area who received any financial assistance from FEMA. This may explain why money has not been forthcoming. Republicans are the do-nothing-to-help-anyone-but-themselves party!

4. You Do Know, Ma'am
That these are mostly militia, posse comitatus, U.N. is about to take over the U.S. sites, set up by and catering to people for whom even the cuirrent administration is not quite reactionary right enough...?

Following many of these links will certainly try your machine's immune system, as these are typically carriers of viruses....

8. Yes, that's understood.
"Following many of these links will certainly try your machine's immune system, as these are typically carriers of viruses..."

Well that's why GOD (with a little help from DOD and Al Gore etc.) made Security Software.

Yeah, I agree that people need to get a grip on their TRUE priorities in life. WTF - Posse Comitatus!?! I hope that we (freedom loving Americans) can bring about awareness and change sooner rather than later.

9. Your Meaning Is Unclear, Ma'am
If you are unaware of the posse comitatus movement, is is one of the most extreme expressions of the militia impulse on the right, and common enough in rural western districts: these people feel they have, under that old legal principle, the right to arrogate to themselves the powers of government, and defy actual officials and dictate to their fellow citizens, gun in hand. They are hardly people any left or progressive person would be well advised to view as "freedom loving Americans" to partner with in seeking "awareness and change sooner rather than later."

15. I was just being sarcastic - yes I know *fully* of the posse comitatus
You have completely misinterpreted my comments above.

I'm showing outrage and fear but your detailed definitions do add a fuller meaning to this thread.

p.s. Please stop calling me Ma'am.

10. This does not come as any surprise, but what is surprising....
Edited on Mon Feb-14-05 01:42 PM by whistle
...is the shear numbers of these facilities. Over 600 which are capable of capacities of 20,000 to 100,000 and the one facility in Alaska said to hold up to 2,000,000 persons. If this report is in fact true, that means our government is prepared right now to imprison between 30 million to 35 million people? The questions now that we need to ask are why? Who? When?

<edit correction on capacity numbers>

Is if these claims are true in any detail; the capability of the promotors of this on the far right to accurately jusge anything is open to grave question....

14. If You Look At These Sites, Sir
It will be clear that most of them embody very peculiar and reactionary views of world events and society. A person who considers that the U.N. is on the brink of taking over the United States, or that fringe or lack thereof on a flag determines legitimacy of a court, is unlikely to be more acute in other judgements, including the capacity of a facility for housing persons.

On edit - Mag. you can't claim to have visited all 4000 sites and they are all claiming "that bit" about the UN.

No, the truth is, most likely somewhere in between.

A sampling among current mentions, combined with awareness of the querters in which this sort of thing has been flogged for nearly two decades, more than suffices for a judgement and comment on the matter....

Mr. Magistrate, please try not to assert meanings to my words that are NOT appropriate via the context.

If you wish to believe this as bogus information, that's fine, but do not discount others because you choose to believe "your truth."

p.s. call me EP not Princess, for I'm a regular kind of gal.

21. Oliver North is behind Rex 84
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), founded 1979 to the Civil Defense program, answers to the President, via the National Security Council. A Miami Herald article published 5 July 1987 reported that U.S. Marine Lt. Col. Oliver North, then employed to draw up national security contingency plans, often met then FEMA director Louis O. Giuffrida between 1982 and 1984. They allegedly discussed FEMA's role in the event of civil unrest and the imposition of martial law. Giuffrida produced a plan for mass roundup and imprisonment of subversives, recycled from a plan he had devised in 1970 for the Army War College in case of an uprising of black militants.

The Miami Herald got a copy of the 2 Aug 1984 memo detailing the plan, to be included in an Executive Order or National Security Directive that President Reagan was supposed to sign. According to various right-wing web pages, this is NSDD 58. The Herald story says it's unclear whether it was signed.

REX-84, according to the Winter 1990 (#33) issue of the Covert Action Information Bulletin, was a series of simulations designed to coordinate the various agencies, civilian and military, needed under the above arrangement. One of these wargames was called REX-84/Night Train.

While taxpayer money went to set all this up, FEMA itself lost the ability to do its ostensible job, which was to be of some use during a real emergency. The CAIB cites a memo to this effect written by then Attorney General William French Smith. Eight years later, FEMA proved itself useless after Hurricane Andrew struck Florida in 1992. Habitat For Humanity showed them up. FEMA was subsequently overhauled.

The concentration camps reportedly mentioned in the Giuffrida plans were probably never built, though various right-wing websites claim to have photos. The irony is that these people probably worship Ollie, who hosts a whiny right-wing radio show, and attribute the putative REX-84 camps to Clinton and his secret UN/New World Order army.

23. Moon Landing
There are 2000 more sites that say the moon landing was a hoax. I take this with a grain of salt. Not untrue, but skeptical as to the lack of credibility. I didn't find any cited sources or documents, did any of you?
