Shameless optimism thread. Who feels good about the party's direction?
Edited on Sat Feb-12-05 06:46 PM by Downtown Hound
I got to admit, for the first time in years I really feel like Democrats and progressives are really on the attack. The Gannon scandal, Dean being elected as DNC chair, Air America storming the airwaves. I think we're finally ready to go on the attack and not just defend, which is what we've been doing for a long time.

We're no longer letting the right define us. For years, our leaders were too afraid to even say the word liberal. I think that's starting to change. Anyway, that's how I'm feeling. How about you?

1. I feel good, too. I also think we have lots of great dems to run in 2008.

4. Feeling a bit better
but there is still work to be done. We can never ever let a**holes like the swift boat veterans for "truth" or Sinclair or any other right wing organization like that get legs and take off, so to speak. Attacks such as those must be countered and countered immediately. Not a week later, but an hour later. We have to once again become the true party of inclusion, except for a guy like Go to hell Zell Miller, who as we all know, is really a republican. We more than likely will still fuss and fight with each other, but we must pull together and get behind our party's candidate, although we basically did in '04 admittedly.

5. I get little waves of optimism now and then...
But I try not to get carried away.

About a year ago I did that, and I covered my house with HOWARD DEAN pins and bumper stickers... and the next time I felt optimistic, I got up at 5 am to be first in line to vote...

argh.

6. I do!
Dean is the DNC Chair.

Barbara "Backbone" Boxer is in the Senate.

The Democratic Progressives are working to take the local party-chair seat.

We've got a lot of work ahead of us. But yeah, I feel good.

7. The word conservative
has rebranded itself, and no longer represents the
rock ribbed puritan ethic.

It now also means crony capitalism and plutocracy of the
dankest, most vile sort.

You ask someone now whether they think the Pugs will save SS, and if they are over forty, they will cough out their dentures.

Ask a senior what they think of the new drug 'benefit.'
But stand back, a walker is a brutal weapon, used in anger.

We let them re-brand us, but in their hubris they are destroying their validity to frame anything in a believable way.
