You know what? I think I'm going to start a flame war over a fringe issue.
Which one should I pick?

How about Gideon Bibles in desk drawers that are in a lot hotel rooms across America?

Personally, I think Gideon is a monopoly and hotels should consider using other publishers.

Flame away!!! :silly::eyes::crazy::eyes::silly:

3. I'll do you one better.
The pages in bibles make great rolling papers.

Oh, I'm so going to hell for that one.

4. I don't mind who the publisher is,
as long as it's the King James version, because everyone knows that's the one Jesus used. If it was good enough for Jesus, it's good enough for me. :D

5. They should have nice leather bibles NIV version large text
Edited on Sat Feb-12-05 02:31 PM by dmordue
Free for the taking when you leave. Black or any earth tone would be a nice color. The small print discriminates against those of us with poor eye sight.

7. Swaggart would be pissed
He thinks it's his god given right to have bibles in motels he takes hookers to. Don't take away his right to convert prostitutes.

8. Now, wait a damn minute!
If they can have the bible, what about all the other religious books. All of them should be in hotel room's, too. I'm for all religions being represented in a motel room.

9. Have you ever met a Gideon?
Here's a game proposed by Eddie Izzard: When you check into the hotel room, call the front desk, to complain that your room doesn't have a Gideon's Bible. Minutes later, a Gideon will show up at your door. Capture him and question him! We have questions we want answered? Who are the Gideon's and what the hell do they want from us?

10. As Mark Twain said:
"The bible is a book with some beautiful poetry, a bloodstained history, a wealth of obscentiy, and upwards of 10,000 lies."

If you should ever read the bible you'll find that that sums it up pretty well.

11. I steal Gideon Bibles
I don't want dangerous literature falling into children's hands. When I have 20 to 30 I plan to have a bible-burning party!

That should stir up the folk who idolize the magic book.

13. Charmin should sue them.
Toilet paper. The pages could be used for TP and that takes revenue away from Charmin. :grr: That's so unfair. The Paper Airplane book publisher should be pissed as hell too. Instead of people buying the airplane book to take on vacation, they just wait until they get to their hotel and save money by using the Gideon pages for their airplanes. They should sue. Coffee filter companies like Mr. Coffee should be mad as hell too. The Gideon pages make for a great substitute of a coffee filter when you run out. Kleenex too! Blow your nose on the pages of Gideon and G-d will save you. The magazine publishers.....OK, I'll stop now. :eyes:

16. Replace Gideon Bibles with alternatives.
Start a movement.

Make them collectables.

Popularize them.
