Oh Puleeese! Oprah Interested In Woman Who Made Up Dead Husband Story
Edited on Sat Feb-12-05 09:34 AM by leftchick
There are SO many more important issues for Oprah to be covering,( Disenfranchisement of Blacks in the last election??)This is absolutely vomitous...

:puke:

DENVER -- A Grand Junction, Colo., woman who admitted making up a story about a soldier-husband killed in Iraq may end up telling her story on Oprah.

The television talk-show host apparently wants to talk to Sarah Kenney about how and why she made up the story that gained international attention when her ruse was uncovered.

A producer for Winfrey contacted Kenney by telephone Thursday and Kenney said she's interested in appearing on the Oprah show.

<snip>

Federal investigators are looking into the case after it was learned that Kenney allegedly produced a Social Security number for her "dead husband" when asked by a soldier's advocate for proof about her husband.

The Denver office of Defense Criminal Investigative Services said that number was linked to a woman who died in the 1990s. Agent Steve O'Neill said misuse of a Social Security number is a federal felony.

.. This woman should be in JAIL!

1. Oprah's brain has turned to MUSH
She is so obviously determined to be "non-controversial", that she's become a caricature now..

Her show is just an hour of "product placement" a day... Of course the "lucky ones" who get picked ("Queen for a Day, style) are not gonna complain when they get the pricey gifts, so that's what she'll do from now on..

I think the Beef trial scared her.:(

2. Oprah should pull her head out and start using her considerable
influence for the betterment of our country, she has been a huge disappointment. I totally agree, puke alert!

7. She did a whole Pre-Iraq war show....
I was never so cissappointed in anything she had done in my life. She had on the Ultimate war cheeleader Tom Friedman, who was going on and on about how this war would be brief and bring democracy to the ME and flowers and candy and... :puke:

I quite watching her show after that.

9. She also let that Ahshole Dr. Phil come on and harass the
Operation Pink ladies who were protesting the war. Dr. Phil was a monster. One of the women was in tears because he kindly beat up on her and implied she was unpatriotic.

I haven't watched Oprah since. I didn't even see the Tom Friedman show. And I've told my friends the same. I won't have anything to do with Oprah for orchestrating this attempt to deceive the public.

11. When she had Bill Clinton on it made me sick too.
His book "My Life" had just been released and all she could ask about was Monica? How insulting to women viewer, all viewers but she has a larger female audience. That book is full of extremely interesting facts and international policy issues, she could have asked any number of questions that would be very interesting to hear about but as usual she took the low road. Too bad when people squander their influence on trash talk.

3. If Oprah would ever take a political stance, she'd be a formidable
ally (or opponent depending on leaning). Does anyone know her politics? She is so influencial among women, the type of crowd who Bush was able to persuade that he would protect, that she could really do some good if she just took a stand. Although, if she leans more to the right, she can stay neutral :-)

8. Why don't we get one of the gifted DU writers here to compose
a letter that we can all send to her show? Perhaps if she sees an influencial market opposed to her programming, she'll reconsider airing this felon and put more relative issues on her program. I know I'm a bit optomistic, but I've seen the power of the DU when it organizes itself and bombards the media. Perhaps we can work this influential person to our advantage.

5. Now, now. Oprah is like Seinfeld. If she veers too far from the inane,
self-absorption topics she specializes in, she'll lose three-quarters of her American audience.

10. Oprah showed her colors when she "charged" economically
challenged women thousands of dollars to be "inspired" by her seminars so that they could better themselves. The seminars were something like six hundred dollars to a thousand a day and she had hundreds of women at a time. I asked about scholarships and what would a woman do if she couldn't afford the rates. They told me "tough"! And she had all these "spirtual" people like Marianne Williamson telling them that money wasn't the object. Sure. And then she also touted Ahnuld, the wife beater on her show. It was on her show previously that Maria admitted that if she were raped Ahnuld would discard her as "damaged goods"! She didn't even attempt to be evenhanded in the California recall. She rushed to Ahnuld's rescue at Maria's request when Ahnuld was revealed as the "gropernator" and they were losing the women's vote. She never gave Davis equal time. I think she has turned repuke.Seriously. The money has turned her head. The other day she was talking about not feeling guilty because she was rich and not feeling guilty that she couldn't help everyone. She said her not being rich wouldn't help any poor people. Sounds repug to me!

12. "Feeling guilty because she was rich..."?
Oh, dear, spare me, O...
Tell ya what, she needs to hold back enough to give herself 40 kilobucks a year to live on, then do like Andrew Carnagie and give it all away. And I don't mean doing the "Queen for a Day" donated product give-aways, either...

Sleeping with a poor white VCR mechanic might make her feel better, too.

14. Oprah knows what sells. That is why she has mega-bucks. Oprah
is for Oprah. If touchy-feely works she will use it. I lost respect for her a long long time ago. I do not watch her program.
