3. Didn't he say the woman who could prove it recanted?
He said in his book he has no real proof.

6. Yeah, I think you're right
What you say sounds familiar, but I thought it was less a recantation than a "if asked, I'll deny it" sorta thing.

9. Suicide
I cannot remember her name (Susan something?). It was published some time ago. Read somewhere that she recently committed suicide. So she couldn't have recanted anything.

4. True. He was in his mid20s and she was only 15 or 16 at the time.
Larry Flynt got the story directly from the woman and her friend. She later asked him not to publish the details. Her husband works for the FBI.

James Bath made the arrangements for the abortion which was illegal at that time in Texas.

10. Larry Flynt had private investigators
Investigate * in 2000 they discovered this woman who was Bush's girlfriend that got pregnant and had an abortion. The abortion was arranged by the Bush's at a hospital when at a time when abortion was illegal. The woman is now married to an FBI agent and will not go public so the media buried the story.

Kitty Kelly wrote about in her recent book

14. She's alive, lives in
Corpus Christi Texas, husband is FBI

Plenty of people know about it, her friends will detail it but she will not go on record. Can you blame her?

Just imagine how the Family Friends powers of persuasion would work on a young gal 'in trouble" back in 60's Texas.

Like every other bush thing, they never do stuff themselves. Plausible deniability. 'I never drove anyone to a clinic to get an abortion"
"I never asked anyone to pull strings to get my boy into the TANG."

Of course not. That's why one has minions!

19. No one can blame her
A woman who accused Bush of rape was found dead.

A man who accused Bush of using cocaine was found dead.

His father is a former CIA head with connections.

I'm surprised more of Bush's critics and accusers haven't ended up dead.

13. The Texas Abortion Tango
Flynt’s account is seconded by some of those involved in the investigation. Flynt’s researchers spent about three months total in Texas trying to obtain documentary confirmation. In interviews with the Weekly, sources who took part in the investigation supplied details not in Flynt’s soon-to-be-published account. They told, for example, how his investigators tracked down Bush’s former girlfriend. They say the woman acknowledged, through her husband, that she had dated Bush for six months. But she also insisted to a friend (who spoke with Flynt’s investigators) that she and Bush never had sex. She said to the same friend that she’d been in the hospital for a dilation and curettage, or D&C, which is surgery involving a scraping of the wall of the uterus. It was a common form of doctor-supervised abortion in the early 1970s. But the woman maintained that her D&C was not an abortion, but for another medical purpose.

17. Larry Flynt gave an interview for Salon a few months back:

Q.(Salon) The first thing in your book that everyone is going to jump on is your claim that young George W. Bush paid for his girlfriend's illegal abortion.

A.(Flynt) You can't stay with a story this long and not believe in it. In 2000, I got a call from a lawyer in Houston. He told me that his client, "Susan," could prove that George W. Bush arranged for his girlfriend to have an abortion back in the early 1970s. Her boyfriend at the time, "Clyde," was pals with Bush and set up the procedure. We checked up and found that indeed "Clyde" was responsible for keeping Bush out of trouble. Bush had knocked up a girl named "Rayette." We talked to the doctor that performed the abortion. We felt we really had a blockbuster story, but about two months before we were going to break the story, "Susan" disappeared. We finally found her. She was living in a half-million-dollar home in Corpus Christi, Texas. Before that she was living in a small apartment working for $13,000 a year as a cocktail waitress. I'm not saying Bush bought her off, but I'm confident that one or more of his cronies did. The only thing that interested me in this story is -- I'm pro-choice, but to have a guy who is running on a pro-life platform ... and this procedure was committed in 1971, two years before Roe vs. Wade, which would have made it a crime.

I went to two members of the national press (during the 2000 presidential campaign) and said, "Look. I don't have anyone out on the stump. You guys do. At least ask Bush the question." You know what? They refused to. One of them had the nerve to tell me that the election was too close. "We don't want to be the ones to tip it in any direction." I thought, that gives you a really great feeling about the press.

much more...

Make of it what you will...

All that old stuff has been forgiven.

On the other hand, old dirt on Kerry was fair to use, even if made up.
