No terrorist for me, please...
I read the thread about the Lynn Stewart prosecution, and all I can say is, "No terrorists for me, please."

I practice in federal court, primarily criminal defense, and I've represented bank robbers, kiddy porn downloaders, drug kingpins, embezzlers and lots of other unsavory types. Most court appointed.

In the Stewart case apparently the FBI taped her conversations with her client in order to convict her of aiding him. I've never (to my knowledge) had a client/attorney conversation of mine taped. I've certainly never been considered for prosecution for anything case related I've done...

I've known hundreds of criminal defense attorneys, and I've never even heard of one being prosecuted until now. They are generally the most ethical of attorneys, although zealous in fighting for their clients. Certainly I've found them to be more ethical than prosecutors.

But I sure as shit will never take a terrorism case. If a federal judge tries to appoint me on one, I'll have to politely decline. Who the hell wants to lose their license and go to jail for a client?
