I have spent more than 200 evenings of my life playing Rush Limbaugh on stage. So when Limbaugh himself appeared within a 100-mile radius of San Francisco, I had to be there. ....

Limbaugh repeatedly staked out his claim to respectability, not just as an entertainer but as a man of ideas. He told his audience they were not "mind- numbed robots," as liberal critics allege, but "among the most informed people in the country." And, Limbaugh said emphatically, "I want people to agree (with me) intellectually."

The trouble is, Limbaugh's shtick didn't hold up intellectually. ....
