New Front On The Drug War - Native Religion
Edited on Thu Feb-10-05 09:34 PM by DistressedAmerican
Well. here we go with the first of what I assume will be a long string of stories about Gonzalez getting all up in the constitution's ass.

Attorney general seeks ban on church's tea

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Bush administration asked the Supreme Court on Thursday to block a New Mexico church from using hallucinogenic tea that the government contends is illegal and potentially dangerous.

The appeal from Attorney General Alberto Gonzales argues that a lower court was wrong to allow the Brazil-based O Centro Espirita Beneficiente Uniao do Vegetal to import and use the hoasca tea as part of its religious services.

Well, Alberto? Jealous of the big Tommy Chong bust? Viva Prohibition!

(on edit) They got Cat Stevens Too. What you think he'll do to match that?

End this pointless drug war NOW! It creates the black market that funds our enemies from the street gangs that Laura Bush is chillin' with to Bin Laden.

1. What was that I was reading a minute ago, something about Congress . .
oh yeah, it was "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances."

Now, if I could only remember where I read it. . . .

4. I Assume With Content Like That I'll Bet It Comes
from that great new document, The USA Patriot Act. The one that kept us free AND safe.

It was released with the first Bush term. Good read!

3. Speedy Gonzales wastes no time tightening the fist
Iron soon will show, and digital hobnails, too. He is going to ratchet the fear and repression Big Time, starting now.

The nation has progressed through the following sequence: From bondage
to spiritual faith; from spiritual faith to great courage; from courage
to liberty; from liberty to abundance; from abundance to selfishness;
from selfishness to complacency; from complacency to apathy; from apathy
to dependency; from dependency back into bondage.

6. Looks like he is starting small, 140 people.
It will be the nation VERY soon. Although Ashcroft went after one guy. I guess 140 is a good start!

Again, let me remind everyone. This is what no filibuster gets us! UURRGG!

5. End the drug war!
Not only is the drug war an assault on the personal freedoms of Americans, but it is now becoming an assault on Americans' religious freedom as well. Of course, the right wing has always been the enemy of freedom in America.
