Please sign Senator Stabenow's petition

KEEP THE SECURITY IN SOCIAL SECURITY

Tell President Bush to Keep the Security in Social Security – Sign the Petition Today!

Now more than ever, we need to fight to keep the security in Social Security.

Social Security is a great American success story. It represents the very best of our American values: after a life of hard work, you earn the right to a secure retirement, living in dignity. Before Social Security, 50% of older Americans were living in poverty. Today, it’s only 10%.

Social Security doesn’t just ensure a secure retirement; it’s also a disability policy and a life insurance policy. Did you know that Social Security protects you whether you’re a 22-year-old just starting your career or you’re a 75-year-old retiree? It covers you if anything goes terribly wrong – a financial crisis, death of

a spouse or parent, or if you become disabled.

Some people are trying to scare Americans by manufacturing a crisis. Let’s look at the facts: The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office reports Social Security can pay 100% of its commitments until the year 2052. Even after that, Social Security will be able to pay nearly 80% of its commitments – hardly a crisis.

There's more. Please visit her site and sign her petition to save SS from piratization.

Julie

6. Did you sign it?
And here's a free lesson in politics....Condi would've won confirmation no matter what. Stabenow is a one-term Senator that the GOP is going to come after with everything they've got. Her voting no wouldn't have changed a thing and it would've been a stick for them to beat her with in 06.

Did you sign the petition or did you just stop by to take a shot at a good Dem? (who BTW voted against the IWR)

Edited on Fri Feb-04-05 04:13 PM by chuckrocks
she had nothing to lose with the no. she already voted for osama(no iwr)so please give me something that doesn't insult my intelligence. and why won't they come after carl? because she's a good looking female democrat? why don't you provide lessons in why the hell did she vote to further the * mandate, which includes bankrupting SS, only to turn around and point fingers. but hey, she only voted for rice, so she's safe there. seems to me she took a page from hillary's "keep your ass covered 101."

12. What do you mean "She already voted for osama (no IWR)"?
Are you saying that when she voted no IWR, she was doing a bad thing?

15. please
do you honestly think i meant that? the matter was her getting ripped for voting against kinda sleazy by the pukes. one would think that voting against irw would be a bigger bat for the pukes to swing than simply voting against one of shrub's cronies. i mean look what osama has done to iraq. and she wanted to keep the rape rooms open! (because it obviously must be done; </end sarcasm)

This is also an issue where Stabenow can make a big difference. She has been very good on health care and I think she will be strong on this.

When have any of us always been happy with the way our Senators vote? The way Debbie is asserting herself on this issue is commendable and deserves our support.
