Does George even have the votes for his SS plan?
I realize there it is only in the proposal stage and there isn't even a bill, but does anyone have a sense of whether the votes are going to be there to get this passed? I can't believe that there is unanimous support even among the republicans for such a harebrained scheme. Has anyone speculated on how much support this thing really has in Congress?

1. Since when does he care? He just bulldozes the repubs and
shames the Dems with fake news reports calling them unpatriotic.

3. He and Rove will threaten, cajole, bribe
and otherwise run over anyone, including those in his party, who don't support his insanity.

He'll get some crazed thing passed, I have no doubt. Hell, he got us into IraqNam against the wishes of the UN, the world and the military.

Propaganda is a powerful tool and they are masters at it. They are determined to drown the New Deal in the bathtub, and I think they will succeed to a large degree.

4. If he had the votes, it would have been passed already.
This is an easy one really. Congressional republicans told him he had to drum up public support before they would give it to him.

5. That is why chimp
is on the "campaign" trail doing 5 states and one is mine, Arkansas. Sen.Pryor is wishy-washy enough to go alone with him. I have written him and Sen.Lincoln and she is the only to answer.

16. They Are Blitzing This Very Hard
One comes away with the idea that Social Security is almost as important to them as massive tax cuts for the wealthy or bombing the living fuck out of brown people. That leaves two possibilities:

(1) The last four years were all just an illusion and Bush is THE MOST kind, charitable, good-hearted and benevolent man who really really wants to ensure the solvency of a program (which he and his colleagues are only PRETENDING to hate) for many generations to come.

OR

(2) These evil fuckers are not satisfied with the BILLIONS they have stolen and they want to make it TRILLIONS, and they think they can get away with it because most Americans don't know how big a trillion is or how many billions it takes to make a trillion.

Hmm... which could it be? Which one, which one?

Time to put on the ol' thinkin' caps.

6. As we've already learned, if the bill (or whatever) has too many
pages, they don't even read it. Not only do they not read it, they go ahead and pass it. So, based on past history, I'd say it's pretty much a done deal.

7. He wouldnt be touring if it was a done deal.
It would already be passed.

He has to sell it to people, and if we can stop him, we have a good chance of stopping the measure.

8. I thought I was being funny, sorry. ... As far as stopping him
goes, we couldn't stop him from being re-selected. His 'followers' believe his every word. I'm sure that his 51% will give him the old thumbs up, which leaves us 49% with our thumbs up our proverbial butts.

Don't get me wrong, I'll be fighting to the bitter end. I think old dubs and his henchmen have caused quite enough chaos in this country and the rest of the world...I still haven't accepted the fact that he's actually serving a second term.

11. Obviously he doesnt have the support you think he does.
Or he wouldnt be schlepping around the country to sell his proposal.

You are oversimplifying thigns. People didnt vote for Bush because they are blindly obedient. A small number did, but most thought he was the right choice for a variety of reasons mostly based on misinformation, but they thought they had reasons.

They wont give up SS without reasons, and its our job to convince them not to accept the president's lies.

13. Have you ever checked out the myway boards? It 's filled with
neo-cons who think old georgie boy is the second coming. I've been trying to make them see the flaws with this SS scheme since it was first put out there....they still think it's a grand idea. Any suggestions on how to convince them?

14. The flaws are big and obvious.

If they cant see them... they probably dont want to.

There is no crisis Bush's numbers are wrong and his projection was a huge exageration. If Bush wants to step in and responsibly find a way to garuntee funding down the road he is welcome to. But he isnt offering any solutions to the minor problem of a potential deficit in several decades.

He is exagerating a projected deficit decades away as a major crisis and proposing a solution that accomplishes nothing he mentions and whole lot of things he doesnt.

17. Thanks for that. They don't want to see them. I see the flaws
my friends see the flaws, almost everyone I know see the flaws. I don't know how to make people see things that they don't want to see.
Hey I'm 55, if I wanted to I'd just say, 'hey I got mine, who cares?' But I do care about my children, grandchildren, friends and others who don't make that before 1950 cutoff date.

9. At the Moment, No... But Here's the Game Plan:
(1) Manufacture a crisis in the minds of the voters. Stress to them that unless something is done *SOON!*, grandma and grandpa will be eating Friskies because Social Security is dead broke.

(2) Take a pile of shit Social Security plan and paint it rainbow colored. Tell people that by privitizing Social Security, everyone will retire with loads of cash, an oceanview retirement mansion, a robot butler and ponies for everyone. Try to say it with a Robin Leach accent if possible.

(3) Accuse anyone who opposes the plan of hating old people. Ask the American public why the Democrats want 87-year-old women to die in the gutters, starving and cold.

(4) Buy some media whores to tout the shittiest Social Security plan ever. Preferably, get people like Andy Rooney and Paul Harvey, who only old people really like anyway.

(5) Parade out people like Zell Miller and Joe Lieberman to say the Bush Social Security Plan is swell. Then say, "See? Republicans love it. Democrats love it. Everyone loves it. It must be the best plan."

(6) Accuse AARP and other senior citizen advocacy groups as anti-American extremist groups. Impugne their integrity and anyone who associates with them.

(7) Make it clear that during the 2006 mid-terms that anyone who votes against the Social Security plan will be accused of being anti-elderly, anti-middle-aged, and anti-young-people. Prepare computer animated ads showing Democratic Senators pushing old people down flights of stairs.

When the Social Security bill comes up for a vote, it passes 71-23 with 6 Republicans abstaining. Call your Wall Street pals and let them know to go ahead and put the down payment on that new yacht.
