2. Through the magic of TV, you were unable to see the strings
attached to the backs and arms of the Dems. When appropriate, the strings were pulled and they automatically stood up and clapped.
(I refuse to believe anything else).

3. My husband, always searching for the silver lining, suggested that
Dems might have stood up to approve his increasing the combat pay or something like that. (Neither of us is watching, just getting it through DU.) I said, WHY THE HELL SHOULD BUSH GET APPLAUSE FOR DOING THE RIGHT FUCKING THING THAT ANY DECENT HUMAN BEING/PRESIDENT SHOULD DO? FOR JUST DOING HIS JOB? And my hubby conceded that I was right! LOL

We both despise *, but I'm much more vocal and much more progressive than he is. He's sort of the Tom Daschle type of Dem. Very kind, but kindness will get us nowhere when we're dealing with the worst thugs and criminals in our nation's history.

4. Because some things it just looks bad to not applaud
When Bush says some vauge thing about the beauty of freedom, we all know that it's code for invading the world, and we know that he hasn't done anything about freedom, most people don't, so when the Democrats don't applaud freedom, they wonder what the hell must be wrong with the Democrats.

6. They can't not cheer "God bless the troops" or "democracy" or "freedom"
That speech was written with applause lines that all but required applause.

There were repubs that sat out some stuff too.

bush couldn't be a bigger fraud
