5. Most likely I will have to go to a local pub to
decompress after the meeting.

Our group has a different name, Change for Kentucky.

"Today is Groundhog Day and the State of the Union Address. As Air America Radio pointed out, it is an ironic juxtaposition: one involves a meaningless ritual in which we look to a creature of little intelligence for prognostication and the other involves a groundhog."

9. DFA in SD is hosting a State of the Onion party.
I'll be there, since I'm speaking at the meeting afterwards.

I guess I'd better pack something for an upset stomach.

12. Not watching. No way.
It's strange, but I can't listen to him speak AT ALL. It would be bad enough listening to him recite the Gettysburg Address -- don't think I could deal with that. But then listening to all the pukey things he says... well, no.

It's like I've developed an allergy to the guy.

Glass of wine, a good book, some dark chocolate.

13. Watch the SOTU w/ bottles of tequila, jaeger and bacardi
I plan to take a swig of tequila every time Bush says "freedom," a swig of jaeger every time he says "liberty," and a swig of bacardi every time he says "justice."

Should be pretty shitfaced halfway through.

Mr. Time Change is my friend. He's saved me from all manner of chimp-related tomfoolery over the past few years.

Now all I have to do is stay away from the NewsHour when I get home.

22. Watching and cringing
throughout both the SotU and the televised Democratic response, which should be an opportunity for Dems to hit back hard, but will be mealy-mouthed and nondescript instead.

I'll probably be madder at Dems than the predictably deceitful and demagogic Republicans.
