Highschool Survey - "First Amendment is a second-rate issue"
http://forums.armageddononline.org/showthread.php?p=61209&styleid=17#post61209

"It turns out the First Amendment is a second-rate issue to many of those nearing their own adult independence, according to a study of high school attitudes released Monday. The original amendment to the Constitution is the cornerstone of the way of life in the United States, promising citizens the freedoms of religion, speech, press and assembly.

Yet, when told of the exact text of the First Amendment, more than one in three high school students said it goes "too far" in the rights it guarantees. Only half of the students said newspapers should be allowed to publish freely without government approval of stories."

No Joke

1. well that just about follows the adult population
let's also take some bets on whether they're from conservative republican households.

Anyway, kids have to "challenge" ideas to develop their own philosophies.

Part of our challenge as adults is to educate them to fully understand an issue before weighing in on it, and to then have enough context and intelligence to be able to give you a rationale for their opinion rather than just repeating what their parents or pastor said.

At any rate that study is proof that they shouldn't be able to vote until they've had a few more years of living under their belt.

2. Well, I ASSUME that they are conservatives however,
when an article about this issue was posted at the freakrepublic site they assumed them to be liberals.

I would be very interested to learn the political breakdown of this group.

3. ah yes, liberals want to change the constitution
I forgot.

Well, it is freeperland over there and that means that unless you're petty, mean-minded, selfish and stupid you don't belong. And liberals are also responsible for male pattern baldness and old age.
