Thank you Plaid Adder!

You have such wonderful insight.
We laugh about their stupidity, but we also do need to take them seriously. This fight is deadly serious and we cannot let them win.

5. Sorry, xultar
I just can't invest the time in it on a weekly basis right now. But buck up! I'm still running my livejournal:

OF course since a lot of what I post there comes from LBN, it's kind of redundant for DUers.

C ya,

The Plaid Adder

4. I Respect Adder's Decision,...
...but when I see an article from her I realize just how much I miss her on Wednesday morning.

As always, she writes a great article and gives us a new perspective.

For myself, my wife and I have been exchanging e-mails with Maine PBS over the Buster episode for the past few days. WE WILL NOT BE SILENCED.

6. yes! They're trying to get their foot in the door ...
They want PBS to back down. This was a "broadcast test" to confirm that they've got someone in the Department of Education who'll be hesitant to defend a pluralistic society. Next is to target other people's television networks (e.g. the CBC and BBC) regarding broadcast standards -- I won't be the least bit surprised if someone tries to pressure US stations to drop CBC programming, using the same arguments PA outlined for us.

I was watching the CBC telecast about American writers and artists in Paris in the 1920s, last night -- 8 PM and they were showing archival footage which would likely not be screened by most US commercial networks -- one of their points being that it's untrue to assume that present-day culture is more freewheeling and "loose" than previous eras. Also they mentioned many gay and lesbian artists who were openly so, in Europe during that time.
