George McGovern on gay marriage --
I saw McGovern a week ago and this is what he had to say about gay marriage -- I think we should use it. He said he was an old fashioned kind of guy and thought that if people live and have sex together -- they ought to be married! I think that should be our new frame!

1. Use the Libertarian "live and let live"
approach? In that if you are a smaller government, libertarian Republican, who really cares if it does not directly effect you?

6. "Living in sin"
Some of us don't believe there's any such thing. It's just a term the fundies tried to push on us.

3. Read McGovern's latest book
"The Essential America". I was prompted to buy it after hearing him on Al Franken's program. Really great stuff.

9. He signed a copy for me -- I just love the man!
He is an incredibly fit 82 year old -- maybe we should run him for president again.

7. As a traditional Christian, I concur with McGovern
I support gay marriage because I feel sex outside of wedlock is wrong; let them marry, lay down with one another, adopt children (if they choose), and be happy.

8. I still have my McGovern button!
McGovern was the first Presidential candidate I ever voted for and until last year his was the only loss that brought me to tears. His answer on gay marriage sounds so refreshingly nice.
