What motivates Rupert Murdoch?
If Rupert Murdoch had not wanted the U.S. to invade Iraq, we wouldn't have.

He could have made Kerry our President.

He runs Fox, FoxNews, Sun, NY Post, Liberty Media, England's Times, DirecTV, etc. Surely he can sway enough of the populace to obtain whatever election outcome he desires.

In my opinion he is the most powerful man in America. He will rule long after he picks Dubya's successor.

I'm wondering what motivates him.

It's certainly not Christianity. He dumped his wife in 1998 and is now married to a woman 40 years younger. A 73 year old married to a woman in her thirties is probably not wrestling with morals or consideration of the afterlife. The slime he sells on Fox network is further indication. Whenever FoxNews uses titles like "Wicked Weather" or religious symbolism to push their viewpoint, know it is a mechanism, not a sign of faith.

But is it a different kind of blind faith? A blind faith in capitalism? Perhaps that is his god.

If money is his own religion, why does he not halt the upcoming financial calamity due to America's imprudent budget and our loss of world leadership due to the fiasco in Iraq?

Maybe he doesn't care. Maybe America is only one of his toys and when it breaks, his empire will play with toys in Europe and China.

Bush said Iraq is a "great experiment in democracy". I think Bush is Murdoch's experiment and if the lab blows up, Murdoch won't care.

1. My guess would be a troubled childhood and adolescence.
I mean what drives a man to need that much control.

I don't think any of these rich guys supporting Bush care. The money we'll lose in a financial calamity of that sort will probably go right into their bank accounts.

8. You know it! Money doesn't evaporate.
When one guy loses, another guy gains. Unfortunately, the majority always loses, and the few gain.

11. Either that or he'll buy it.
We need to get back some regulations on the media, like the one that used to forbid companies from buying out other companies that could be construed as getting a monopoly on an industry.

7. Everything you wanted to know about Rupert Murdoch.
"Who is Rupert Murdoch?"

There are many links about him from this main page.

My take is that he is obssessed with money and power. He is willing to ditch all scruples for money and power. It seems to be that simple.
