Powell presented forged documents to UN.
Edited on Sat Jul-12-03 09:50 AM by spotbird
After Powell’s speech to the UN it was reported that one of the documents he used to support the WMD imminent danger argument was forged. In fact it was such a poor forgery that a Goggle search would have proved it false immediately.

Now, Powell supposedly didn’t use the “British intelligence” reports Chimp used in the State of the Union before the UN because the Department of State couldn’t verify that report as true, but he did use fake documents (although they were different fake documents) nevertheless.

on edit:

"Fake Iraq documents 'embarrassing' for U.S."
From David Ensor

"WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Intelligence documents that U.S. and British governments said were strong evidence that Iraq was developing nuclear weapons have been dismissed as forgeries by U.N. weapons inspectors."
http://www.cnn.com/2003/US/03/14/sprj.irq.documents/

IMO Tenet is being set up for all the lies surrounding the invasion. He is a holdover so he won’t have any defenders on the right, and best of all this makes it Clinton’s fault.

They planned it this way all along. What kills me is that The media also ignores that Powell also used faked documents in the speech that purportedly vindicates Chimp.

1. Link? Source?
Edited on Sat Jul-12-03 10:00 AM by HFishbine
Gotta link or source for the fake documents Powell used?

On Edit: More confusion.

Okay, I just read the article you cite (which I thought from the headline was just about the Niger forgeries as they applied to the SOTU). Now I'm more confused. The article said that Powell used the same in his presentation to the UN. But this contradict other reports that say Powell knew the information to be suspect so he did not use it before the UN. Any help?

3. Here are a few links
http://www.cnn.com/2003/US/03/14/sprj.irq.documents/

http://www.globalpolicy.org/security/issues/iraq/attack/2003/0205dissected.htm

http://truthout.org/docs_02/020803A.htm

But I’m having trouble finding a link to the report that Powell used documents which were forgeries. The article where I best remember reading it was in the NewYorker and that seems to be unavailable on line.

"A List of Bush LIES on Iraq

A BUZZFLASH READER COMMENTARY
by Kelley Kramer

Here is a list of the serial lying from the Bush Regime about Iraq, including links to a cross section of all the news sources.

It's nowhere near a complete list, and you probably already knew about most of these lies, but its a great list to send any annoying dittohead who buys into this fake war.

Best,

Kelley Kramer

Note - I lifted much of this from an internet forum and lost the link, apologies for not being able to give due credit."

This covers that issue as well as many otheres, I think.

2. Theory:
They (the media) are saving that little reminder for Monday, or whenever the story starts to go cold. They don't ever give us all the information all at once; there's no money in it. Better to have us watch the TV/buy the paper every day so we can check up on any "new" information.

BTW, I don't think the press is all that loyal to the administration. Most of the media employees are well-educated and obviously follow the news; now that people are dying and it's safer to comment on it (it isn't unpatriotic now that the war is "over"), they'll want to speak up even more. The corporate heads have no loyalty to the BFEE, either -- they'd publish pornographic pictures of their grandmothers if they thought it would put an extra nickel in their pockets.

Maybe we should send some "good job" e-mails out? I, for one, am the first to scream bloodty murder when they're screwing up and the last to say "good job" when they're doing the right thing.

4. They have already said "Clinton-appointee, George, Tenet"...
There were reasons that Bush "kept" Tenet.. He would be a convenient fall-guy for him to use..

It was convenient too..

9/11 (safety/security/intelligence.........Tenet
9/11 (aviation/airport security..Transportation)... Mineta

Both Clinton appointees, both convenient fall guys..
