The USS Ronald Reagon
Today they will commission the aircraft carrior Ronald Reagon. This for a man who is resposible for the 241 deaths of marines in Lebanon, and two days later he invaids Granada to distract the publics attention from his horrible mistake. And the public fell for it. This will be the first time that this country has named a ship for a living person,( I have to wonder if this will turn out to be a jinxed ship. for the crew on board I hope not.)

2. USS James E Carter
Named after Naval Officer, President, and Nobel Laureat "Jimmy" Carter.

My personal recollection of Reagan is the covert wars he managed in Latin America.

4. This pisses me off...
CVN-76 is named after a mediocre president (Reagan), CVN-77 is to be named after a god-awful president (Poppy Bush). Yet they have only a lowly destroyer (DDG-80) named for BOTH Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt. I know that CVB-42 was named for FDR, but it was scrapped in the late 70's (15 years before the others in her class, the Midway and the Coral Sea). At the VERY least, they should've named CVN-77 after the Roosevelts...

5. When this ship was first proposed...
the Navy said it was not needed, nor could it be manned or fitted out at the time. There was neither the money, nor the manpower to do so.

Trent Lott pushed this thing into reality as a pork project.

While I believe in a strong military to protect our country, I think this was just one more boodoggle that cost us billions. Just how many carriers do we need? Not to mention the suport ships necessary to manitain the carrier group.

Bob Barr pushed to have this named after Reagan, just as he did with everything else named after the former president. Perhaps Mr.Barr wishes to displace Nancy, and sleep next to his hero; thereby committiing both adultery and idolatry at the same time.

6. Not the first time Trent's done this
Didn't the taxpayers get stuck with a couple of cruise ships that were built in Mississippi when the companies defaulted? I think ol' Trent tried to pawn them off on the Navy.

20. I seem to recall something about that...
but Lott has a hbit of getting off the hook a little too easily.

He's a jerk, but they'll vote for him because of $4 billion ships like this. If we needed it, I'd be all for it, but there is no dire need at this point, something the Navy even says.

9. MSRNC's Alex WITT Said RAYGUN's Mid-Initials Are "H.W."
She probably conflated Poppy H.W. BUSH and H.M.S. (as in IDIOT). His middle name is "Wilson", ain't it?

11. The MSRNC "Reporter" Just Said Nancy Is SO Devoted to Ronnie Poo
So much for getting the journalistic facts. Has he heard of Frank? Nancy (Ann Francis ROBBINS) was devoted to Frank's strapped-down skivvies.

Nancy is dressed in a white pants suit. It's like NIXON "marching" in step to "Hail to the Chief" when he arrived anywhere. Nancy thought it would be appropriate to dress like a sailor, but she's missing her "cover" (hat). She also looks oddly WAN and not "up" for the occasion. Hmmm.

Now the author of some puke about RAYGUN is saying "they" are going to sell a "Ronald RAYGUN BEANIE BABY". Sort of like the genuine article himself.

13. Reagan is Old and Goofy
They might as well memorialize him now, he's old and goofy and he never goes out. He won't do anything to change his reputation, for better or worse. Betcha he's incontinent, that's why they don't put him in a wheelchair. Or maybe he blurts things out.

Served his world war II time in hollywood making "D" grade movies. Made a movie once with a monkey. Could it be this is the same chimp we now have in washington.

15. Wow, this really points out that standards have slipped
Abraham Lincoln gets a carrier named after him for holding the union together by sheer force of will, Roosevelt gets one for fighting the greatest force of evil the planet ever witnessed. Reagan gets one for merely occupying space when the Soviet Union finally collapsed. (it would have happened even if Don Knotts was prez)

Crap, at this rate, Dimson will have one named after him soon.

16. The "Distinguished Guests" All Look Bored
and/or have a short attention span.

Nancy looks positively OUT OF IT! She had trouble getting out of the chair, did a sit-down. "I only have one line, so----'Man the ship and bring her alive.' " She delivered the line without a hint of punch. She's finally given up on acting.

The crew is trotting aboard, one overly weighted sailor just about tripped.

18. I'm a former Navy man (65-69)
And I would really resent it if I had to serve on a ship named after this worthless "B" grade actor who sent this country down the road to ruin. I wonder if they are serving oatmeal and apple sauce in the galley in honor of Ronnie the Phony.

19. I prefer the USS Kathryn Hepburn
She had smarts, integrity, veracity, and acting ability. Reagan had only the latter, and only as president.
