201. Bleh, gotcha
I relate to the other Ms. Blue because I'm bipolar and frequently become obsessed with things never getting better, even though I can tell that it's not rational. But I don't obsess about other people, just my own inadequacies...specifically, a book I've been trying to get published, like Zorg in the movie. :)

but this poor fella, he gave me a piece of rose quartz, to "focus my love energy".
ugh, it was sad. i kept trying to get out of it......
ten years later, my friend just saw him smile for the first time! good for him.

Is it the Director's Cut? I just got the Director's Cut DVD and haven't watched it yet, but it contains an extra hour of footage that's supposed to bring more clarity to what motivates Betty.

On an amusing note about censorship, my partner procured a copy of the Korean release of the DVD before it was released in the US, and I watched the beginning of it...they had a giant, blurry fuzzball obscuring all genital nudity, even when that meant the fuzzball covered someone's, er, face. :D

Did you see Boston Legal last night?
Candice Bergen had a great line -- I LMAF! They had a case related to teaching "Intelligent Design" in science classes and she said she believes in evolution because "if you watched the presidential debates, there was no doubt that we're descended from monkeys." I just totally cracked up.

251. JK used the MLK breakfast to talk about (?) fair voting....
...most of us :::sighed heavily::: (and I think including Keef) as a "day late and a dollar short", not to mention, not quite the venue this should have been brought up on.

Don't have the transcript handy, I did notice discussion in other DU forums today....

257. Until I see the whole transcript I find it hard to believe that that was
the only thing JK said at the breakfast honoring MLK. Taken out of context it seems like it might not have been the most pertinent thing to bring up, but actually voter disenfranchisement of African American voters was one of the things Dr. King fought hard against, so in context, it probably was very appropriate to refer to the fact that it is still going on.

and he serves as Dolly's bodyguard when she's in town. I believe I could find out when she's gonna be here if you want me to! ;)

Oh, and my Mom used to play dolls with her when they were both little. One time when I interviewed Dolly, she said she remembered it because it was always a treat to come to Knoxville with her grandfather on the weekends (her grandfather and my grandfather worked together or something).

And, not only am I flattered beyond belief at the teeth-whitening thing - I seriously need to start counting how many times the man mentions something Tennessee-related in his shows. It seems nightly. I mean, hell, he even mentioned Tennessee Tuxedo once.

He did a historical rundown, with x-rays, of all of the morans who have ever had a nail shot into their skulls. There were some funny quotes, too. The guy that the story was about didn't know it was there until he went to the dentist and had an x-ray. He thought he hit himself with the *other* side of the nail gun. Oy.

Amazing!

106. I'm confused on the WD-40
When mixed with cocaine, it causes nosebleeds ... so they sprayed it on toilet seats?!!! Did I miss something?

Please tell me people don't snort it off public toilet seats.

In order to stop people from snorting cocaine off of the toilet seats in a club, they sprayed the seats with WD-40, because it causes nosebleeds.

172. Canadian news had something similar
Coincidentally (hmmm), the polling places were distributed in a similar pattern, mostly in eastern Canada, with the only western one being in Calgary. CBC said people had to travel twice to the polls, once to register and then to vote. People in the west were saying they couldn't make it.
I keep wondering if the votes from the ex-patriots will be folded into the overall voting numbers without distinguishing they are from elsewhere.

173. This poor kid.
Go after to him KO! Take a pop at the Judge who so richly deserves it. And I had the same thought about the adopted parents taping and turning over that tape to the media. Personally, I'm not sure any of these people deserve this kid.

It's so sad. Of course he's old enough to know and remember what happened. It will probably scar him for life. That judge was an idiot.

Which creeped me out. I agree with the judge, the child's not going to remember this, but all four of these parents were making this a side show...ick.

247. I think I understand the tape
Thinking as a parent, if I were involved in a lawsuit over someone taking away my kid, I'd be trying to get as much evidence as I could, and playing every angle I could.

It seems tasteless, but I'm sure they feel desperate, and are more concerned about finding a way to pressure the judge to give their child back to them than they are about anything else.

The judge is an ass, and media and public pressure might be the only way of overturning the decision.

293. on second thought
Maybe I don't - I didn't catch on that the biological dad filed to block the adoption back in 2001 and has been fighting this ever since.

I'm back to all the parents being idiots. If they knew there was a dispute and it could end this way, they should have been - in the best interests of the child - making sure the child was comfortable with ALL the parents, so no matter what the outcome was, he wouldn't be traumatized. And they should have had a commitment to ensure he gets to see them all throughout his life. If they had his best interests at heart.

Judge is still an ass, regardless.

They never knew who anyone was, Joan always asked trite questions and sometimes the wrong question, and I loved them. I loved that she used to make the stars show her their engagement ring. I lived through Melissa's wedding (I knew that wasn't going to last! A horse guy? Well, at least he's used to looking at things that look like that!), a baby and a divorce, and now, they're just gone!

#1. God bless Sy Hersh. (Although, are we surprised? Uh, no.)

#2. Too much chimpy on ths show! :puke: I can't believe that people actually voted for this moran. And I can't believe he actually had this long interview on teevee. He NEVER talks this much. And, he needs to STFU about his planned "piratization" of social security. I do NOT want my parents moving in with me, thankyewverymuch.

Can I just say I really dislike that picture of Kerry that they use on Countdown? He's much better looking than that.

And the Kerry slam was warranted IMO, although OUCH. Ya know, in a strange confluence of events, I myself was at a MLK dinner / racism workshop tonight and they asked us to related the most recent racist event we had witnessed recently, personally or otherwise, and I didn't even think. I opened my mouth and started ranting about long lines and voter disenfranchisement in Ohio. Heh. Maybe I was channelling Kerry. :D

Ok, I'm having my doubts about the teeth whitening being a shout-out to us, just because it was mentioned prominently in the Golden Globe gift bag, and jokes about it kind of follow naturally from there. And, Catchawave, :spank: to you for sending him our embarrassing girly threads! :D

I confess, I am torn between blushing & snickering, vs. saying "oh, it's a coinkydink" ... because, ya know, it's only a small step from believing the people on your teevee are talking to you, to living in a box and mumbling to yourself.
