Iraqi policemen burn election posters of Interim Prime Minister Allawi, as they rally through the streets of Najaf, some 160 kilometers (100 miles) south of Baghdad, Monday, Jan. 17, 2005. Policemen demanded their salaries for last several months. (AP Photo/Alla al-

2. Who cares about election posters?
Besides, he's a sham prime minister, it's sham election, and a phony war.

BTW - you're not allowed to call anyone a "freep" here....

3. There was a photo posted earlier today
Of Iraqi kids throwing rocks at US tanks. But hey, at least things are going well there and no one needs to be held accountable for it.

7. Hey... those rocks might just be contaminated with DU (not our DU)
and they could be considered weapons of mass destruction... problem solved, shrubby vindicated, all is well that ends well. Next problem.

4. apparently that money's not "trickling down" to the policemen...text says
they haven't been paid for months. Allawi's a grifter, I believe, and the money may be trickling down to European bank accounts. Just a gut feeling thing....nothing more.

5. I watched the 5PM news tonight, forgive me...
Lots of Iraqi citizens (in the US) seemed overjoyed at the prospect.

For one thing, since 2000 I have no faith in our own system, let alone our own leaders being able to impose it elsehwere.

And for another, is it a free election when how many candidates again? might be shills of our neocon government?

Free is for them to govern themselves. And if they elect a leader that is a shill and bends over for the US upon every whim, it's inevitable that the Iraqis will realize they've been duped and used. And then we'll be back at square 1...
