Military Families Urge Censure for Bush

Military Families Urge Censure for Bush

Military families, Win Without War, MoveOn, and representatives from Business Leaders for Sensible Priorities held a press conference on Wednesday to call on Congress to censure bush for deceiving the American public and the world. Volunteers delivered 560,340 petition signatures to House offices.

"My son, Army Lt. Seth Dvorin, who died last month while serving in Iraq, met his responsibility to the nation he loved,” said Sue Niederer of Pennington, NJ. “As his mother, I am joining hundreds of thousands of Americans today in asking that the Congress of the United States meet its responsibility, as well.”

Speaking for herself and other military families, Ms. Niederer said: “Our message to Congress today is clear: spare us the platitudes, the pious rhetoric, the empty slogans. Give us the truth. Do your job and hold those accountable who have denied us the truth. Censure President Bush for the deceptions and manipulations that led our nation to war. You owe the American people, my son and all those patriots who have sacrificed for their nation no less.”

As revelations each day make clear that President Bush and his advisers deliberately misled Americans on the reasons for invading Iraq, a coalition of organizations and individuals -- including a former CIA analyst, an anti-terrorism diplomat and military families -- call on Congress to censure the President.

“This is not about a failure of intelligence. It’s a failure of integrity,” said Tom Andrews, national director of Win Without War, a coalition of 42 national membership organizations.

“Each day new evidenced dribbles out that the President knew. He knew the evidence wasn’t sufficient to support his claims that Iraq posed an ‘imminent threat’ to the American people,” said Andrews, a former member of Congress from Maine.

“He knew that the intelligence community’s assessment of Iraq’s arms programs did not support the administration’s pre-conceived notion that Iraq had chemical and nuclear weapons. He knew better -- but he chose to mislead us,” Andrews added. It is up to Congress to address this significant abuse of power by the Bush Administration, he said.

1. Some history here, you know what stopped
the Russian War Machine in Afghanistan ultimately, don't you?

Those mothers and fathers, sons and daughers and those war veterans... and their protests...

I fear it will be the military families who will serve as the consicence of this nation... and for the record... they will be ignored by this congress... mark my words

3. Once again, where was the MSM when this press conference was
held last week? The MSM should be investigated for complicity in this issue.

Shame on GwB and his cronies but shame on Congress that we would even have to ask them to censure this liar. They voted to send our troops to Iraq, which means they were lied to, just like us, about WMD, the connection of Sadaam/Iraq to 9-11, and on and on. Why should the military families even have to ask for this censure to happen. Those Senators and Congressmem/women who supported this lie, know they were lied to!!! They should be chomping at the bit to censure this asshole!!!

5. This sounds really strong
thanks for posting all that information.

Sue Niederer was the woman who stood up at one of Laura Bush's campaign speeches and demanded to know why her son had to die in this war.

She was jeered at by the crowd, who chanted "four more years", and ignored by the cold hearted, nation's comforter, Laura Bush, who went right on with her speech as if this woman did not exist, and as a result, Neiderer was handcuffed by the police and arrested.

6. Censure? What's wrong with "impeachment?"
What Bush has led this nation into not only harms the country now but for years to come. High crimes and NO misdemeanors.
