There were WITNESSES re the CBS story on Bush's Nat'l Guard service!
CNN's Reliable Sources and Howie Kurtz are doing a piece on the "trouble at CBS" because of the false document....As usual they are ignoring the fact that there were witnesses who verified everything that was in that document. (Remember the elderly secretary and a couple of men who were at the base when Bush was?)....CNN just had on someone representing CBS News, called Linda Mason who could have pointed out the fact about the witnesses, but instead meekly promised that CBS would be good little boys and girls from now on....It's really pathetic....IMO.

2. Once again the defenders have allowed the opposition

to define and color the story because they are not prepared with facts and talking points to correct the opposition.

Joe Lockhart just sat there while Kurtz slashed and burned CBS and Lockhart did not hone in on the fact that the problem was with the MEMO being authentic (supposedly).

BUSH WAS AWOL
BUSH DID GET FAVORITE TREATMENT

etc,etc,etc,etc,

3. TV on, sound off, Kurtz = talking head
was listening to Fuerth on Franken replay instead. Heard him say that BushCo killed the global early warning system because it was associated with Gore. Yet another story that will go underreported.

10. I wonder
if that was the real reason. I know this is ugly to contemplate, but sadly my cynicism has reached the point where I think maybe it was felt to be counterproductive to their aims.

14. I think
they just didn't think about it. I do think they go out of their way to tarnish anyone in the Democratic party especially if they feel they are a threat. According to Fuerth, the assessment was based upon what he heard from those in position to know. At the time, the GOP thought Gore would be running in 2004 and did it basically as a political maneuver.

I don't think they thought anything like this tsunami would happen. Besides it would have put some focus on the environment and that's one area they're trying to keep the spotlight off of.

8. The story itself is T-R-U-E!!!....That is what drives me wild!

5. We were severely outmaneuvered.
He was AWOL. It could have been his downfall. What happened instead was astonishing.

We need better people running our campaigns.

6. Absolutely-
* did not deserve an honorable discharge. A military man without an honorable discharge cannot be elected dogcatcher. Why can't we get competant people on tv presenting our side?

12. So why won't the witnesses and the reporters who know them stand up?
It's amazing how well they pulled this off. Amazing and disgusting.
