Do you actually KNOW anyone who got spun up about Super Bowl Boob,
Monday Night Football/Desperate Housewives, and other faux "values" brouhahas?

I ask because I live in Texas in fundieland amid tons of gigantic megachurches, and I never heard anyone expressing dismay or outrage over these non events beyond mild bemusement.

of fundies. Thier name escapes me but they blitzed the mainstream media with their outrage and the msm bit on it as if we all were outraged.

Me either.

4. It looked like an accident to me
When I saw it live I knew they messed up.
And fer godsakes it's a boob.

I wish the fundies would get as outraged about war and death.

3. my friend was upset about it
He said, and I quote, Damn, I was watching that game, and I was watching the half-time special, and I didn't notice her boob pop out!

And this friend is actually a wingnut, although a Catholic not a fundy.

I don't think anybody "real" was upset about the breast, they were just upset that they were too stoked on beer to notice when it happened. Hence all the TIVO and internet replays the next day.

and other subversives. We intend to clean them out,
even if it means rounding up every birdwatcher in the country.

The wardrobe malfunction wasn't that much of a deal, it was such a quick flash, besides I cable and it was minor by comparison. What did throw me was I had captioning on (otherwise I'd have never noticed) and I was taken back by the words of the Kid Rock song. If I remember right it was about pimping. I hope I am remembering this right, that that was the halftime show Kid Rock was in.

that you were upset by it? I'm also talking about some of these other things like the Terrell Owens/Nicolette Sheridan MNF thingy.

7. I don't want to piss off anybody but we have naked breast on TV all the
time around here... and not after midnight... all day long... even on public television.... Oh, but the sad part is that we don't have guns...

8. Yes. A child should never see a breast.
They should be blindfolded before nursing.

Especially in conjunction with a sporting event. Greeks had nekkid wrestling and they tanked after only... what, a thousand years after the first bay-bee saw a nekkid man.

If God meant for us to be nekkid, we wouldn't have been born wearing diapers.

God Bless!

9. The people that got upset don't go out of the house except on Sunday
They spend the rest of the week at home, burning their hand on the stove with every sexual thought.

11. To be honest, I was not happy about it. Here's why:
First of all, I am extremely left wing. You can believe that.
Also, I am a completely non-religious Jew.

Having said that, I was watching the half time with my 8 year old daughter and though she didn't see the boob incident, I really would have been put in an uncomfortable spot if she had.

It would have meant having a conversation with her that I did not want to have at that age. For example, she might ask: "Why did he rip that woman's top off?" and to go further, it would enter it the territory of having to explain sex, sexual politics and whether or not ripping off tops is an acceptable thing to do. Not such a big deal, but I do not like my child rearing schedule to be determined by unscheduled sexual escapades during what should be, by all rights, a non-sexual, non-adult halftime activity.

Simply put, I would have preferred some advanced warning.
Upset? Not terribly. Irritated? Yes, definitely. That's all.

33. I don't have children
so that wasn't a consideration of mine. Though, I do have friends who said that they would have been a little upset if their children had caught it. (But, they meant A LITTLE upset. None of them seemed to think it would have been the end of the world.)

I think, however, that it was overblown. You couldn't really see anything during the Superbowl itself... it was all the news shows that had close-up stills of the boob afterwards that was much more awkward.

The whole incident should have been met with the sound of Crickets Chirping.

12. I have kids but, hell, since I nursed them
I did not get in an uproar over it. I guess I wish that the "dress" requirements were a bit more equal...if you can't show a women's breast on teevee, than a topless man should be just as outrageous.

It is not like Justin Timberlackey and Janet (my brother's a perv) Jackson performed "the act" onstage.

13. no. I was in a room of about 40 - 50 people
and either nobody noticed, or even cared enough to bring it to anyone else's attention. I didn't know it happened until hearing the "buzz" the next day.

15. I didn't like it
I wasn't all spun up about it, just like I'm not all spun up about the mooning. But the mooning was inappropriate and so was the boob. I don't turn on a Super Bowl half-time show expecting a strip show, that's all. But really, fine the people and be done with it. It's certainly not the worst thing I've seen on television.

incident, in and of itself, didn't bother me. But, Randy Moss is an ass, and he proved that he was an ass even further by rubbing the faces of Green Bay fans in his own ass.

16. Surprised, yes. Spun up? No.
I saw that and asked myself if I'd really just seen what I thought I'd seen. I got sick of seeing it replayed over and over and over again. Slow motion, stop action, still shots, close ups. The event itself was a lot less of a problem then the coverage of it later.

20. The MSM made sure....
That everyone had to know about it twenty times a day. If it would have been handled discreetly as it should have been, nobody would have remembered it or even cared about it. But no, let's make sure that everyone knows that they and their children are seeing a blurred out tit 24/7, so they can save themselves from it.

17. Worked up?
I watched the last Super Bowl with my husband. He pointed out to me about Janet Jackson's exposed breast. Neither of us got too spun up over it.

With the Desperated Housewives thing- I wondered if the outrage had a subtle racist theme? Would this outrage have come if the scene were Vinnie Testaverde/Nicolette Sheridan instead of Terrell Owens/Nicollette Sheridan? I remember asking my brother in law if he thought there might be a racial tone to the brouhaha? He told me no.

26. FCC got something like 40,000 complaints... 39,999 of them were
from the website of some Family Fundie org.

I thought the act was completely planned and rehearsed by over-the-top over-acting by the performers (why else would she be wearing a huge metal sunburst on her nipple?).

I thought it was unappealing and stupid, but most crap on TV is unappealing and stupid.

No, I don't want nudity on prime time network TV, but ripping a woman's clothes off - especially when it's supposed to be 'entertainment' - is far more distasteful and a much worse thing for our kids to see.

The whole "wardrobe malfunction" thing was really kinda funny. I mean, what is so wrong with a breast? And it was truly sad that they blocked her from the Grammys just because of the boob.

36. I'm in Texas, too.
On the Super Bowl Boob:

The worst I heard was one person who thought that they shouldn't have claimed it was an accident. She felt that if they’d admit it was a planned event and then apologize, people would forget it more quickly.

The number one thing I heard was, "I bet it hurts to pierce your nipple."

Monday Night Football/Desperate Housewives event; I never heard anyone mention. Most of my clients are the type who like to spread the word (gossips). I don't really think that one even made a blip in their lives.
