MSNBC firing Olbermann?
A relative of mine said that she was listening to CNN's Reliable Sources, and they said that Tucker Carlson may have quit Crossfire because he has a job coming as a host of a show in Olbermann's slot. If he's fired, we really should get a permit to protest outside of MSNBC's headquarters! Has anyone heard anything else?

4. I hope you are right!
That report on Reliable Sources scared me. I wouldn't put it beyond MSRNC.

3. Hmm, I don't have any information and I haven't heard anything
but it sounds like something to be taken with a serious grain of salt. Olberman is well rated and although the media still shills for Bush big time, the days of anyone who even questioned him being a traitor have mostly passed us by. I'd be surprised, and outraged if this were true.

5. Yep, his ratings have gone way up since his reports
Edited on Sun Jan-09-05 02:59 PM by mvd
It didn't help Donahue to have the highest rated show on MSBNC, though.

No wonder I get worried about these reports considering the times we're living in.

14. Yeah, I thought about Donahue
but again, that was during the buildup to the Iraq War, when we were in a free speech lockdown. All you had to say back then was that you were ashamed the president was from Texas, and suddenly you were public enemy number one. Although the media still whores for Bush today, it's not quite as bad as that.

6. Deborah Norville's Spot?
That's what I read; Carlson was in final negotiations for the 9pm slot that Norville use to have. If MSNBC were to fire Keith Olbermann, we would really be doomed. Then only Jon Stewart would be the voice of truth on cable.

11. Miller is on CNBC, not MSNBC.
The official word has always been that Carlson would get Norville's old spot. And KO mentioned not long ago that MSNBC had recently renewed his contract. But that wouldn't necessarily prevent them from getting rid of him, I suppose. They do seem to be taking a hard-turn to the left over there. KO would be their last center/left person on-air at this point and it would be a damn shame and a crime to see him go too.

13. CNN has "reliable sources"?
9:00 - Norville's slot is the one I've heard bandied about.

viewerservices@msnbc.com is the MSNBC email address if you care to voice your opinion about Tucker Carlson.

That discusses issues in the media. Full of right wing shills, so I don't think I can take them more seriously than the other info. I've heard here.

Unless of course the Realiable Source is the WH daily talking point memo.

17. When you tell the truty and care, MSNBC fires you, e.g. Donahue.
Edited on Sun Jan-09-05 03:06 PM by autorank
This is typical. I think this would be a great moment to start a boycott NBC and General Electric effort nation-wide. Let them know that it's no more "Mr. Nice-Guy" from us.

and here's a gem: if we did it right, the boycott would be covered by CNN and Faux because it hurts a competitor...haha...

21. My email to MSNBC -
Pul-leeze! What on earth do you envision him contributing to your network? Really. The hate spewing, bowtied, college frat boy, Richie Rich wannabe is just over the top - even for you guys.

Have you watched tapes of his shows? He is a shill for the Bush White House and if he isn't on the payroll like Armstrong Williams yet, it is just a matter of time. He is mean, partisan, hateful, uninformed and just plain stupid. Do you really need another one of those as MSNBC?

Suggestion - how about expanding Keith Olbermann's show to two hours, triple his salary and turn him loose to report the news completely and fairly. That would be a new concept for the main stream media of today's world. I will not watch Tucker Carlson - if I wanted his brand of journalism I'd turn to Fox.

Sincerely,

27. hahaha love it!
I sent this last week:

1. There are rumors floating around that MSNBC is considering hiring Tucker Carlson. He's an obnoxious twit (and I mean that in the kindest possible way) whom, I can assure you, I won't be watching.

2. Keith Olbermann, however, is great. Can't you just hire two of him?

3. If there's not enough Keith to go around, please hire someone who can at least think for themselves, and doesn't act as part of the white house echo chamber.

Reliable Sources. What's his name (can't think of it at the moment), who hosts Reliable Sources, said that Carlson would be coming on in the slot before Scarboro. That's Deborah Norville's slot.

If you want, you can still speculate on if you think Olbermann will stay long term.
