3. Spicoli! My man!
I think we should all just follow in the wise words of Penn and Heinz-Kerry, and tell all the wingnuts just to SHOVE IT.

4. I remember an interview in Rolling Stone back then.
He gave it from his mobile home. (really)
I guess he lives a down to Earth simple life...away from the glitz of Hollywood.

Maybe that's changed, I don't know, but I like his attitude.

5. I'm sick of the right-wing nuts tell our side WHO CAN SPEAK
It's okay for so-called "preachers" to opine on a daily basis, but heaven forbid an actor or singer should exercise their free speech rights with an occasional thought.

"Shove it" is the correct response indeed!

or Charlton Heston. Or Bruce Willis, Bo Derek, and their new darling, Ron Silver, a talentless has been if ever I saw one. And what exactly are Dennis Miller's credentials, an unfunny comedian?

10. Fighting fascists thugs is in Penn's blood. His father was once black-
listed. He grew up knowing the dangers the right wing presented.

I've always respected Sean Penn.

14. Well, I do
Here's a guy with millions of dollars that chooses to do something for the better of humanity and the country with his time. We need more like him. And he's not afraid of the repercussions, unlike a lot of Hollywood that are more afraid of the damage it will do to their careers.

You seem to have missed the whole fucking point.

What Sean Penn thinks matters as much (or as little) as what any of the rest of us think.

I've developed a lot of respect for Sean Penn over the past few years. He is a fine humanitarian and has turned in some awesome acting performances over the past couple of years.

16. In The Falcoln and the Snowman
Penn played real life spy/drug dealer Daulton Lee. I read that when Lee was released from prison a few years ago, Penn gave him a job.

Sean Penn is one of the good guys - a person who acts on his principles.

As an aside, Daulton Lee was in my high school graduating class, as was repuke Senator George Allen - R for racist, VA. Guess who was the bigger troublemaker in school?

21. Heh. Sean got a twofer
Team America tanked. And it led to the acrimonious bustup of Parker and Stone.

From last fall:
To Trey Parker and Matt Stone,

I remember a cordial hello when you guys were beginning to be famous guys around Hollywood at some party. I remember several times getting a few giggles out of your humor. I remember not being bothered as you traded on my name among others to appear witty, above it all, and likeable to your crowd. I never mind being of service, in satire and silliness.

I do mind when anybody who doesn't have a child, doesn't have a child at war, or isn't or won't be in harm's way themselves, is encouraging that there's "no shame in not voting" "if you don't know what you're talking about" (Mr. Stone) without mentioning the shame of not knowing what your talking about, and encouraging people to know. You guys are talented young guys but alas, primarily young guys. It's all well to joke about me or whomever you choose. Not so well, to encourage irresponsibility that will ultimately lead to the disembowelment, mutilation, exploitation, and death of innocent people throughout the world. The vote matters to them. No one's ignorance, indcluding a couple of hip cross-dressers, is an excuse.

All best, and a sincere fuck you,

Sean Penn

P.S. Take this as a personal invitation from me to you (you can ask Dennis Miller along for the ride as well) to escort you on a trip, which I took last Christmas. We'll fly to Amman, Jordan and I'll ride with you in a (?) 12 hours through the Sunni Triangle into Fallujah and Baghdad and I'll show you around. When we return, make all the fun you want.

They'd planned to part after TA, but making the movie was such a bad experience (especially for Stone) that they can't stand the sight of one another right now.

25. Well, according to the police
he had a concealed weapons permit to carry the guns. It doesn't say anything about them being unregistered. Nice try though.

31. My apologies I was incorrect
When I initially read the story they mentioned nothing of him having a license. Meh I still dont like the punk. It has nothing to do with his stance on the war. Hes just a punk IMO.

26. GO SEAN!!!
I never disrespected him at all, but I've really come to esteem him highly in recent years.

When he did "Dead Man Walking" I loved that he showed a side of the death penalty most people didn't see.

And he portrayed a misunderstood mentally retarded man in "I Am Sam" that was just brilliant and beautiful.

He's a good guy.
