Did anyone else see the little drama behind Gonzales today?
I didn't catch his entire testimony and I can't remember all the details but here is what happened as well as I can report it.

At one point after a lot of talk about torture, one of his sons started putting his head down.

Then Gonzales' wife started putting her hand on him and apparently trying to tell him not to put his head down.

Then I saw a reporter talking to one or both children and then the c-span camera was moved to a different angle so you couldn't see anything but an aisle behind Gonzales.

Then the camera angle changed again and Gonzales's wife and children were gone.

Did anyone else see this? Does anyone know who that reporter was?

THOSE CHILDREN SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN AT THAT HEARING. EVEN WITHOUT PHOTOGRAPHS OF TORTURE IT WAS ABOUT AS WHOLESOME AS A SNUFF FLICK, IMHO.

1. How old were the children?
Sounds like they were being exploited by their own parents. That is sad.

3. The boys looked like they were about ten years old---
maybe a little younger, maybe a little older.

From Wikipedia:

divorced in 1985; he and his second wife, Rebecca Turner, have three sons.

MORE REPUBLICAN FAMILY VALUES!!!!!

4. Another Repuke Trick to Keep the Torture Pics OUT
From the beginning when SPECTER/HATCH said that videos should be limited BECAUSE THERE WERE CHILDREN PRESENT--------well, children should NOT have been present. If the nominee really wanted the family, they could have been there at the start then been excused so that THE BUSINESS OF THE COUNTRY could be conducted FULLY AND APPROPRIATELY. It was just a ploy to tug the heartstrings and STOP a real interrogation.

6. Republican children used as human shields to protect their
despicable parents.

I wonder if a judge in a court of law would prevent the prosecution from presenting incriminating evidence because it was too graphic for children who were present in the courtroom?

10. They should show the photos in front of the kids
cuz clearly it is okay to kill Iraqis in front of their kids....why should we shield our kids???

Shielding kids from reality doesn't help them...

12. But but but, if torture is justified and moral and all that
WHY can't his children see that?

I don't understand. His daddy did it, so why shouldn't they be PROUD?

13. Certainly every Bush voter's kid should see them.
Let them know what becoming members of the "ownership society" is really all about.
