My brother is headed to Iraq tomorrow.
I am 48 years old, my husband and I were married in 1974, just as the vietnam war was ending. My parents weren't much into politics, so I learned a lot from my husband over the years about war.

Never in my lifetime did I think I would have to deal with a family member in a war situation. Things were so peaceful for so long, life had it's ups and downs, but WAR?
Tomorrow is Christmas, my brother is leaving for 18 months. He has a wife and 2 children and girl 15, and a boy 10. They are in Indiana as I write this--spending 48 hours together. Like most in the military he loved his job and still does, got back into the reserves to get the promotions to improve the quality of life for his family. He is a 1stLT Combat Engineer.

Now at 48, I am scared.

Please keep up positive thoughts to all our military friends and family.

To you Mr.B***--may you rot in hell.

15. This is really rough.
I'm so sorry. My son is a Marine stationed in Japan. He's only 20 and it's the second Christmas in a row that he is not with us -- he was in boot camp last year. At least he is safe and we can communicate by computer and phone.

I wish your brother and his family the best and hope he is able to keep in touch.

God, that sounds so lame! I'm so sorry I can't offer more. My foster daughter is stationed in New Mexico and I'm so worried she's going to call and tell me her unit is "On Mobility".
