Immanuel Baptist Church REV Fox in Wichita runs the TOWN and the NEWS
Raising a Stink.
Rev Terry Fox seems to get his way in Wichita KS. He is the ACTIVIST minister of (depending on who prints it) a 2900-6000 member Immanuel Baptist church. A Southern Baptist Church.

He seems to do more than complain to the mayor about the PC Community Tree as seen in this thread. How we are losing Christ in Christmas.. Oh Please!!!!!!!!!
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=104x2830327

He is also against Big Brothers and Big Sisters.
http://www.family.org/cforum/feature/a0024755.cfm

He is against Same SEX marriages.. mostly just supports the BAN
http://www.kansas.com/mld/eagle/news/editorial/8533873.htm

Supports upholding archaic sodomy laws
http://www.sodomylaws.org/usa/kansas/ksnews28.htm

and HE IS ON THE LOVELY TBN SO HE CAN BROADCAST HIS BIGOTRY TOO
http://www.prleap.com/pr_1591.html

"Christians need guidance and encouragement in the middle of a cultural war that is occurring in America” declares Rev. Terry Fox, Senior Pastor, Immanuel Baptist Church, “Christian Broadcasting provides this much needed ministry. I hope that people will tune in and be encouraged with the ministry of TBN."

So what happens when Terry Fox calls up the Mayor of Wichita? The mayor in turn falls all over himself after getting 60 emails that were probably initiated by one church service pep talk!! The church of Rev. Terry Fox. Apparently activists in the Southern Baptist Churches are the ones that are making the stink about the "theft" of Christmas.

I'm about SICK of it!!! These people are not representing all of America and for the Media and elected officials to fall all over them is sickening. Lets call them all out on this. It took me about 30 mins of investigation to figure out where this media story came from and who initiated it.

I had not noticed Christmas had been stolen until I turned on FOX, or read this silly news article about some overly activist Baptist Church there in Wichita.

I love Baptists. My mom is one, but she isn't one of these kind.

Some demographics on Wichita
POPULATION OF Wichita, KS MSA: In 2003, Wichita, KS MSA had a household population of 540,000 - 273,000 (51 percent) females and 266,000 (49 percent) males. The median age was 34.2 years. Twenty-eight percent of the population were under 18 years and 11 percent were 65 years and older. From the Census Bureau 2003 info.

I think we need to let these news writers, and officials know we have a clue whats going on. Write to the New Reporter and the Mayor and ask them why they are at the beck and call of one minister and one church in town!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1. I Have Long Knew KS is F***ed!
Everyone interested in political problems analysis should read that book "What's the Matter with Kansas?". It says a lot about why people behave strangely.

4. What this is really about
Is the power one single church has over a community.
This is ridiculous and WE need to stand up and fight these people by going to the people that are bending over for them!

The more I think about this the more angry I get.!!!

What a pompous demostration of power by this Rev Fox! These people need to know they are not the only ones that elect people. WE need to start contacting elected officials and calling them out for falling all over these guys.

I guess I am the only one thats as pissed off as I am about this one silly little story today, but it is so representative of the problem we are seeing nationwide with the "RW MORAL MAJORITY" movement. They are small, but are having too much affect by being LOUD>

We need to YELL BACK>!

6. This is genuinely irritating.
You live in Texas--a state that bends over backwards for the republicans, gave Dubya free passes and executes people en masse--yet you pretend to know about the politics of Wichita--my home. I suggest you look after the affairs in your own state before meddling in the politics of a city you know only through selective press-clippings and statistics.

5. What have you got against Wichita?
I don't mean to start a flame war or anything like that, but you know very little about Wichita politics or news. You don't live here, you don't know any pertinent issues relating to Wichita, and you don't know any of the personalities involved. I work for the city--WPD, to be exact--and I know a hell of a lot more about this city than you do, and Fox holds not even a hundredth of the pull you ascribe to him.

7. Nothing against Wichita itself. Its the way it played out.

Its not Wichita, its the story. I've heard about the theft of Christmas for the first time this year. Its all over Fox news, the Falwell group is shouting it. Then I wonder how it is they have impact on local areas like MINE, and yours.

So yesterday I see this article, which indicates a mayor got 60 emails in a city the size of Wichita. Then I look into who is who. I do some research and find out who Terry Fox is. Who The Mayor is. Who the Reporter is.

I jumped on it because its representative. I also live in a community stricken by the same type of thinking. If you go talk to the County judge about a problem that the county commissioners are not taking care of he is about as likely to say he will do something, as he is to say "I will pray about it".

Admittedly I don't know anything about Wichita(although I've lived in more towns and cities than most people), I do see a paradigm of behavior that is disturbing. Have you read the book named Whats the Matter with Kansas?

When a Minister can get his congregation to write emails to the Mayor, and the next day there is an article in the paper about the theft of Christmas something is going on. This is what is kicking our butts.

Since you are from Wichita, tell us how that happens. I'm just trying to understand. More importantly, I'd like to see people in Wichita to tell their Mayor not to give in to special interest over silly things like this. And possibly even more importantly I'd like to see the people in Wichita tell their News Reporters to report news instead of this kind of junk! And it is junk.

I don't want a flame war either. I am glad someone from the area wrote back so perhaps we can get some insight as to how this kind of thing ends up in a paper in a city this big.
