Wal-Mart up to bat ... again
Wal-Mart up to bat ... again
Retail giant heads to high court, evaluates Measure 37’s meaning

By RAELYNN RICARTE
News staff writer
November 12

Wal-Mart may have struck out three times — but company officials are still going to bat for a super center in Hood River.

On Thursday, spokesperson Eric Berger made that announcement at the local Rotary Club meeting. He said Wal-Mart was taking its its case before the Oregon State Supreme Court on behalf of its customers.

“We made a commitment to our supporters in Hood River to expand our services to them, and we are going through the process to follow through on that commitment,” said Berger in a follow-up interview.

In mid-October, the state Court of Appeals upheld two previous denials of Wal-Mart’s plans.

They agreed with prior rejections given by Hood River County Commission and the Land Use Board of Appeals.

1. What if they opened a Wal-Mart and nobody came?
Sorry, wouldn't happen...much as we'd like it to.

These bastards do their research...they've got zip codes on their customers from other stores, they know where the demand is.

So long as people are willing to shop there...Wal-Mart will continue to rape the countryside and exploit workers worldwide.

:::sigh:::

7. Swords is an anagram of words.
"He who lives by the sword, shall die by it".

Now for the words: What do you have that is USA-made? Most clothing isn't. Most computers aren't. Most anything isn't.

And the sickest part is, even American flags are made in China. That's a dual-disgrace. A disgrace to the US and a disgrace to China, assuming the Chinese workers gave a damn about loyalty to their country - which doesn't seem very likely, what with the human rights violations their government practices...

Apart from cars and those little rubber things you stick in shoes to prevent your feet from slipping, oddly, I've seen nothing that's made in the USA. That is the problem, Wal-mart is merely a larger symptom. The problem needs to be fixed. Swatting at symptoms does not cure the problem.

9. So, I should shop at WalMart?
Because we cannot make a difference by making a statement with our money?

- They censor books they don't like

- They are the LEADER in the race to the Chinese bottom

- They treat their employees like shit

- They have given the most money of any retailer to Fascist inc. in the WH.

You flail away trying to solve the problem - I'll do that AND destroy the leader of the consumer economy Dumbyaites too. If people don't take down WalMart and STOP watching Faux news, you are in essence promoting the RW agenda. IMHO of course.

5. I take back everything I've ever said about Wal-Mart.
"He said Wal-Mart was taking its its case before the Oregon State Supreme Court on behalf of its customers."

..And here I thought that they were just money-grabbing Town-Destroyers when in truth, they're doing it all for "It's Customers"

6. We need a legal defense fund for cities that want to keep out Walmart
and keep their traditional mom & pop businesses.
