What's the difference between a federal correction
facilty, and a regular correction facilty?

Does your crime have to be a "federal" offense to be housed in a federal correction facility?

Are most drug cases a "federal" offense?

1. there are federal pens
then there are state pens. if someone murders someone, say, a spouse or neighbor you would go to a state pen. but if you traffic drugs across state lines or rob a bank, you would go to federal pens. any crime such as racketeering, stock fraud, bank robbery, etc, would be a federal crime. if you rob your neighborhood grocery store, or get prison time for no child support, breaking and entering, dui, it would be at a state pen

2. Hmmmm.... interesting.
I was just curious, I was reading an article about Martha Stewart and her stay at "camp cupcake" and I was just curious.

Is it true that Federal correction facilities are in fact nicer? Or is that just a fallacy?

3. Depends on which one
You have the "Country Clubs" for politicians, CEO's, pro athletes, etc. Then you have places like Atlanta, for mobsters and Panamanian Dictators. Then you have Marion, Illinois, for people like John Gotti, who are really dangerous.

4. It's a fallacy.
There are different levels of security, just as in state-run prisons. Those convicted of "white collar" crime will go to the lower level facilities; more violent crimes earn more security.

Personally, I'd prefer to avoid even the "nicer" prisons. The main problem: you can't leave!

Do you have a link that explains the wonderfulness of Martha's current domicile? The one she requested was, if anything, worse than the one she got. She preferred a facility closer to her 90 year old mother, so visits would be possible.

5. I am almost ashamed to admit
however, it was an article in the latest People magazine. I realize it's a rag, but my office as a paid subscription.
