HUMOR | THE RAINMAN TOUR... for *'s "charm offensive"...
Edited on Tue Nov-30-04 02:57 PM by nostamj
until we get that HUMOR forum, I'll have to post this here...

THE RAINMAN TOUR (To the turn of "The Rainbow Tour" from EVITA)

(Karl Rove:
PEOPLE OF YURP, I GIVE YOU THE RAINMAN OF CRAWFORD, TEXAS....

(DU:
SPAIN RESISTS THE PHONEY CHARM OF EL BUSHIE
HE CAN SAY WHAT HE SAYS, IT DON'T INSPIRE TRUST
(Blogger #1:
HE'S ON A MARCH OF FREEDOM WITH A BLOODY LUST
(Blogger #2:
WE'VE HEARD THIS BULLSHIT, ALL BEFORE
BUSHIE'S A DIM REPEATER
(DU:
HE THINKS HE'S WITTIER WINSTON CHURCHILL, WHAT A CLOD!

(Blogger #1:
YOU CAN'T COUNT ON SPAIN TO FURTHER YOUR EMPIRE
YOU'LL HAVE TO CUDDLE UP WITH TONY BLAIR
YOU'RE GONNA MAKE HIM RICH SO HE DOES NOT CARE
(Blogger #2:
YOUR RASH INVASION CERTAINLY TICKED OFF THE MASSES
YOU'RE QUITE THE PHENOMENAL ASSHOLE, FIRST IN CLASS.

Chorus:

(Bloggers:
LET'S HEAR IT FOR THE RAINMAN TOUR
IT'S BEEN AN INCREDIBLE BIG MESS
WE WERE QUITE SURE, THERE WASN'T A DOUBT.

(Karl Rove: DID OUR GEORGIE'S STAR SHINE?
(Bloggers: AND THE ANSWER IS :puke:

(Karl Rove:
LET THEM FUME, IT'S GOING WELL
THEY'RE BUYING WHAT YOU CAME TO SELL
JUST LISTEN TO THEM CALL YOUR NAME
THEY'RE CHEERING FOR YOU ALL THE SAME
AND WHO MISUNDERESTIMATES OUR LEADER NOW?

(DU:
NOW WE DON'T WANT TO BRING UP SOMETHING LIKE TRUTH HERE
BUT, TEN THOUSAND GUARDS TO WATCH YOUR ASS?
AND NO APPLAUSE WHEN YOU'RE PASSING GAS.

PEOPLE ARE UNIMPRESSED WITH YOUR RHETORIC OF FEAR
THEY COMPARE GEORGE BUSH WITH ADOLPH HITLER, ONE BAD GUY

(Georgie:
DID YOU HEAR THAT? THEY CALLED ME A CHIMP!
THEY ACTUALLY CALLED ME A CHIMP!

(Blogger #1:
BUT COMMANDER CODPIECE, IT'S AN HONEST MISTAKE
HAVE YOU SEEN YOUR REFLECTION?
SO THE TOONS GET IT RIGHT, MONKEYFACE

(Blogger #2:
HEARD THE LATEST CROWDS MET HIM WITH RAGE
PELTED HIM WITH BAD BANANAS, AND ROTTEN EGGS
(DU:
THEY WANT TO SEND THE SICK DICTATOR BACK TO THE DREGS
HERE'S A RECOMMENDATION, FIND A NEW STAGE
(Blogger #1:
STILL IT WAS A BEAUTIFUL BACKDROP, BLOCKED THE SIGNS

(chorus)

(Karl Rove: IS OUR GEORGIE THE MAN?
(Bloggers: AND THE ANSWER IS ...
(DU: A UNQUALIFIED
(Bloggers: :puke:

(DU:
GEORGIE SURE LOOKED SWELL, IN HIS NEW COSTUME
POSING IN A HAT LOOKING LIKE A FOOL
BELIEVING THAT A SMIRK WILL MAKE HIM LOOK LESS CRUEL
HE'S LOOKING PEEVISH AND BORED, HE WANTS HIS OWN ROOM
HE'D RATHER BE HUNTING ARMADILLOS
CLEARING BRUSH

(DU:
FACE IT KARL, THE RAINMAN'S ACT IS A FRAUD
YOU MUST SEE IT ONLY PLAYS TO RED STATE CROWDS

(Karl Rove:
IT DOESN'T MATTER NOW THAT HE HAS GOD

(DU:

YOU'D BETTER CALL OUT THE BASE AND FAKE A BIG CROWD
SOMETHING FOR THE CABLE WHORES TO FAWN ON, IS REQUIRED.

(chorus)

(Karl Rove: DID OUR GEORGIE COME THROUGH?
(Blogger #1: AND THE ANSWER IS
(Blogger #2: :puke:
(DU: AND
(Bloggers: AND :puke:
(DU: AND :grr:
(Bloggers: AND :puke:
(DU: :nuke:

(chorus)

(Bloggers: DID THE CHIMP SCREW THE POOCH?
AND THE ANSWER IS
(Blogger #2: :puke:
(Blogger #1: :puke: :puke:
(Blogger #2: :puke: :puke: :puke:

coming soon...

2. You know, as I was reading about the trip to Chile
I had "Rainbow Tour" stuck in my head. It may be you and I are the only people left on the forums who are old enough and musical-addicted enough to remember *Evita.*

4. You could still use it for the 'update'
the concept would come across better on stage. But I think it would be more effective if you kept the original structure and created a single narrator to plug into Che's part (maybe it could be a disgruntled Powell, who knows).

5. it's actually
word-for-word (based on the published lyrics from the MOVIE version) though I did choose to give the dissenting voices the main line (and * and Karl only cameos)

who knows. just needed something to break a writing block...

6. Well, see, the movie is OK
but I miss the original soundtrack. Must see if I can still buy it somewhere. I listened to that thing day in and day out when I was in grade school.

8. The only improvement the movie made
was the "government we deserve" song. But I miss "The Art of the Possible." Jonathan Pryce is good any way you can get him but Antonio Banderas is no Mandy Patinkin. Somehow Mandy could do swashbuckling OK but the transition from swashbuckling to singing, not so easy for Banderas.

Ah well,

10. How long do you think we can keep this thread going just by ourselves?
I think this is hilarious...58000 people on these forums and we still managed to find an empty room!

13. well, I'm not familiar with the Evita song you speak of
Edited on Tue Nov-30-04 05:35 PM by Batgirl
But I was able to appreciate it as poetry

And also, "The Rainman Tour" is a great description that describes all of gwb's periodic venturing from our golden shores.
