U.S. uses napalm gas in Fallujah – Witnesses
11/28/2004 9:00:00 PM GMT
The U.S. military is secretly using banned napalm gas and other outlawed weapons against civilians in the Iraqi city of Fallujah, eyewitnesses reported.

Residents in Fallujah reported that innocent civilians have been killed by napalm attacks, a poisonous cocktail of polystyrene and jet fuel which makes the human body melt.

Since the U.S. offensive started in Fallujah earlier this month, there have been reports of “melted” bodies which proves that the napalm gas had been used.

1. Hmm...
>Since the U.S. offensive started in Fallujah earlier this month, there
>have been reports of “melted” bodies which proves that the napalm gas
>had been used.

That doesn't "prove" anything.

From further down in the article:
>On Saturday, Labor MPs have demanded that British Prime Minister
>confront the Commons over the use of the deadly gas in Fallujah.

Funny, I can't find a single reference to this on BBC, the Guardian, or any other UK web site I've checked (using both "fallujah" and "napalm" independently as search terms)

14. apparently you did not bother to READ the links provided....
Orwellian indeed....wake up!

b]The Pentagon said it had not tried to deceive. It drew a distinction between traditional napalm, first invented in 1942, and the weapons dropped in Iraq, which it calls Mark 77 firebombs. They weigh 510lbs, and consist of 44lbs of polystyrene-like gel and 63 gallons of jet fuel.
Officials said that if journalists had asked about the firebombs their use would have been confirmed. A spokesman admitted they were "remarkably similar" to napalm but said they caused less environmental damage.

But John Pike, director of the military studies group GlobalSecurity.Org, said: *"You can call it something other than napalm but it is still napalm. It has been reformulated in the sense that they now use a different petroleum distillate, but that is it. The US is the only country that has used napalm for a long time. I am not aware of any other country that uses it." Marines returning from Iraq chose to call the firebombs "napalm".

Mr Musil said the Pentagon's effort to draw a distinction between the weapons was outrageous. He said: "It's Orwellian. They do not want the public to know. It's a lie."

In an interview with the San Diego Union-Tribune, Marine Corps Maj-Gen Jim Amos confirmed that napalm was used on several occasions in the war.

8. US admits it used napalm bombs in Iraq

American pilots dropped the controversial incendiary agent napalm on Iraqi troops during the advance on Baghdad. The attacks caused massive fireballs that obliterated several Iraqi positions.

The Pentagon denied using napalm at the time, but Marine pilots and their commanders have confirmed that they used an upgraded version of the weapon against dug-in positions. They said napalm, which has a distinctive smell, was used because of its psychological effect on an enemy.

A 1980 UN convention banned the use against civilian targets of napalm, a terrifying mixture of jet fuel and polystyrene that sticks to skin as it burns. The US, which did not sign the treaty, is one of the few countries that makes use of the weapon. It was employed notoriously against both civilian and military targets in the Vietnam war.

not a lot of help with desert sand and some palm trees...

But based on that photo of long ago of that poor girl running down the street, it would certainly burn like hell.

Hope this isn't true.

On edit, agree with poster #1, I didn't find that article to say much of anything in terms of fact.

11. Napalm isnt banned...
Where are people getting the idea that napalm is banned?

Its also a liquid not a gas, and its not poisonous, and it in and of itself doesnt make the body melt. Its the fact that its flammable that caused the damage.

All that aside yes targeting civillians is wrong.

I just dont like ignorant news reports or reporters that make shit up.

Military Says Goodbye to Napalm
Pentagon recycles remaining stock of a notorious weapon

Michael Taylor, Chronicle Staff Writer

Wednesday, April 4, 2001

<--
The Navy says this appears to be the last napalm in the U.S. military. Asked why the military seems to be discarding napalm as a weapon, a Navy spokesman said "there are more modern and efficient means to use in war these days than napalm."

Maybe they don't use napalm, they use super napalm.
