Props to CA legislature on Domestic Partners bill!

It's been a little hard to get behind some of the legislation I've seen come out of the Assembly of late, but this bill is absolutely fine. By all appearances, it gives domestic partners all of the legal benefits and entitlements of married couples- falling short of actually calling them married.

I like this because it establishes the rights, which are really the all-important crux of the matter, but appeases the hard right somewhat by reserving the term "marriage" for man-woman unions.

I salute the legislature on this one and hope it brings comfort, support and empowerment to all people in same-sex relationships.
