2. Coins
are a good investment. If you don'thave the money for gold, I'd suggest some old coins (pre 1965) that had real silver in them. I don't think silver has gone as high as gold, and it will offer some hedge against inflation. You can also get silver bars, etc.

4. Best be careful when buying gold jewelry from pawn shops
Pawn shop owners know what the value of the gold in the jewelry is when they accept the pawn. If the pawnbroker can't get the money they loaned out back on the gold or gems through the liquidation of the gold and gems, they won't take it. Very few pieces of jewelry have value because of their design. I doubt you'd find 'cheap gold' there (and one can very likely get ripped off unless you REALLY know your stuff, imho).
