Action Alert: Protect Country of Orgin Labeling...
http://www3.capwiz.com/y/webreturn/?url=http://capwiz.com/pc/issues/alert/?alertid=6669781&type=CO&azip=

Go to the tab 'Take Action'.
Action Needed to Protect Country of Origin Labeling!
Action Alert: Encouraging people to call their Senators and Congresspersons to protect mandatory Country of Origin Labeling (COOL).

The Republicans are wanting to make it 'optional' for the distributor/manufacture/grower to place what country our food is coming from, not mandatory. Somewhere in an article I read the meat packing industry was leading the call to have this removed from our labels. With all the concerns we have over food safety, we need to let them know this is not exceptable with us. We already pay a small fortune for food that we have handle like radioactive waste..now they don't even want us to know what country it came from.

Please email or call your local reps.

Thank You!

i have seen countries disappear from tins over the years.

i heard adding mandatory origin labeling was an effort underway.

can u clarify?

tuna, eg, now does not show Thailand, as it used to. Shows nothing. PS FDA online says all "US company brand" tuna from third world, if i read correctly in brief trot thru files there. 3 us based companies get fish from foreign packers somehow. Dangerous! Lots files on FDA finding filth, and other cases, unclear the offense, but co's disregarding orders not to distribute and keeping FDA out of warehouses. Really! not exaggerating.

I searched FDA about a year ago.
Incredible stuff in FDA online .
search there, using something like Letters of Infractions or somesuch.. shortens search results. They are what FDA uses to warn co's of FDA finding something wrong.

My chicken co was clean at the FDA site, so I only eat chicken in tins now.

we need COOL on every food item.. every one... and ingredients and also, past history of a co's infractions from FDA, on labels visible before purchase. Going back to the co's founding. Use foldouts on labels like you sometimes see for long recipes... can be very long. Accordian folded long pages glued to every label. Accept nothing less.

2. When I shop for fresh strawberries here in Florida I see that
...they often come clear across the country from California. That means they have probably been in gas storage (nitrogen) to prevent over ripening and mold. When they come from Florida and in particular Plant City, they are much tastier. That will happen beginning in February and go through to about April. Then we'll get a second crop in the fall. The labelling is put there by the producer. I have noticed though, that this year we are getting fresh berries from Chile and Argentina. They are much more expensive ($5.95 for a pint). For produce I believe the country of origin labeling is important especially for the likes of fresh produce and citic products and the like. I would really miss having that information. But, republicans will bend over and let corporate greed screw the consumer right up the anus for power and a buck! As for our democratic representatives, what can they do? They are powerless.

5. I agree. We have to email/call even
the repug reps from our state. There is not enough Dems to give them opposition, so we the people, must let them know we are aware of what their doing and we don't like it. Here is another link with even more
