that white-collar professionals making $60,000 will not be allowed to be paid overtime anymore if the rules are changed. Of course Bushites try to make it sound like it's these wealthy loan officers making $200,000 a year who will be the only ones affected. Wrong. Lots of middle class folks will lose this money and yet be expected to continue their overtime hours which are now practically standard work week. So if you made $100,000 a year working 50 hours a week, you will now be making $60,000 a year working 50 hours a week, no wait. They will probably find a way to squeeze more out of you so you will be working 60 hours a week and not get paid for that overtime either.

4. To be fair...

...a huge percentage of the population does have basic cable. This ad will reach many of the people who stand to suffer if the overtime rule is changed.

And even if some of the people who take action are not working class or lower middle class, any support is better than none. Plenty of people in comfortable circumstances tend to be liberal. Just look at some of the voters in the suburbs of Washington, D.C., and all around the New York metropolitan area.

15. and let's not forget the classification

aspect of the bill. corps will be able to reclassify employees who, although in the past have been salaried, still received some OT comp, into "managers" so that they will be covered by the new law which gives them a "choice" between days off in some distant future OR overtime pay- but at reduced rates.

this has already started to happen in my 'hood. some fast food resturants, always short of labor, have posted on their signs, "now hiring asst. MANAGERS" as opposed to 'shift teammembers' or whatever. ha ha, you get paid less and work more- how fun!

I hope they are addressing that, because that is as bad as the overtime portions of this bill. People are going to be hurt by this much more than they're going to be helped. I've never seen a corporation do the right thing by their employees when they can do the wrong thing.
