Democrats will win in 2008 because rather than run on Bush being bad...
...they're going to run on the issues for which they stand.

I'm not going to blame Kerry for this not happening this year. He tried really hard to give people reasons to vote for him, especially during and after the debates.

But I think the media worked twice as hard to make Democrats hate on Bush rather than feel good about being Democrats. (They wouldn't talk about the issues, but they loved talking about the war, good or bad, and loved blaming other people for Bush's failures.)

I'm sure they'll try that again in 2008, but it'll be much harder without Bush running.

Frankly, I'm disappointed that so many of my fellow Dems couldn't figure out was happening. Nixon did the same exact thing to win in '72. Getting lured into focusing on Bush was a mistake Democrats shouldn't have made.

It won't happen in 2008 not because we're going to get smart, but because it's going to be hard for the Republicans to run that kind of campaign. But, hey, maybe the next time a Republican's running for reelection and polarizing the electorate we'll remember that we're not running against that candidate but running for the things in which we believe.

2. I'm sorry, but I just can't be optimistic about any future elections...
as long as those damned electronic voting machines will allow those counting the votes to change the numbers at will.

Also, the repubs control enough of the Congress to get rid of the presidential term limits.

Unless and until we Democrats and our party leadership can start thinking outside the box, we are just along for the ride.

and the voting process is corrected.

22. Don't have to scrap them...
...just make sure they leave a paper trail, so we can audit them and recount the votes as needed.

...machines.

8. It only takes the manipulation of 75,000 votes in a key state to
throw an election. We will never really know how much Kerry really won by.

Exit polls are our only way of estimating.

11. No, it's not ALL about the machines....
It's about WHATEVER it takes.

And don't think THEY won't do WHATEVER it takes.

This time they got by with "machines."

Next time it will be something different.

You think "democracy" is still a factor? hahahaha

13. Getting rid of presidential term limits...
Edited on Fri Nov-19-04 12:56 AM by JavaJive
would require a constitutional amendment, and that would require ratification by ¾ of the states. Last time I checked there were still more than 12 blue states. ;)

Oh yes! A constitutional amendment would first have to pass both houses of Congress by a two thirds vote; that ain't gonna happen any time soon.

5. Ya know, I never thought
about what TheDeb said, that the current administration can do away with the presidential term limits. I've been so focused on disliking W. and what he can do to us as a country, I never stopped to think what the Rep controlled house and senate can do for HIM! The plot thickens.

10. I think it's going to be H. Clinton in 2008
with Obama as VP then in 2016 Obama will win. Then in 2024 it will be Jennifer Granholm. Maybe Pelosi will slip in there somewhere. That's my prediction (fantasy?)

14. You've got a point
but I don't think it will ever happen. I am a true, 100% Dem but let's face it, the ones running for office are weiners. They'd be too afraid of getting caught.

Are you on the east coast in U.S.? I'm in southern Jersey, watching the rerun of Keith Obermann. I am so sick of hearing about this Monday Night Football thing. It's over, it's time to move on. There are much more impacting news items that the media can be discussing, like how W. is going to totally ruin this economy.

15. First, we have to correct voting fraud/irregularities
We have to fix the whole voting system before we can expect to win another election. We can have Ken Blackwells and other republicanazis using their positions to swing elections in their candidate's favor! One last thing, could you guys all sign the petition on Nader's site to get Bush impeached? Thank you.

18. In 2006, we'll be all over voting machines. In 2008, we'll hit issues.
I worked, gave, and helped others give for Kerry. I appreciate his efforts.

At the same time, I must say, the campaign was vapid. Kerry could have hit all the shows on network and cable multiple times. It would have driven * crazy. He didn't. He could have cleaned *'s clock twice:
(1) by personally calling * out on the swifties on day one challenging bush to put up or shut his boys up and
(2) by coming out hard when bin * showed up by saying "What's this guy doing walking around three years later?"

Seriously, we can do much better than this.

And enough of this red/blue state crap. It's old and tedious.

I say CLARK in 2008 if he stays true to the party; his platform was great.

but I don't think he'll run again. It's a shame, but I think the sneaky slimy ways of the Repugs have dimmed the lite on some Dem contenders, simply because they feel they can't win against cheating liars.

24. You may be right but Clark has that look in his eyes and he
seems like he might hold a major grudge. He's about three times as smart as Rove & Co. Running for president with his limited experience, given the timing, was like pitching for the first timein the majors in game 7 of the World Series. Maybe he'll scheme and plot. He impresses me as someone who wants to serve by leading rather than leading to serve himself. Somebody asked which politician I'd like to meet. Quite honestly, he's the only one.

26. Dude, Welcome to DU!!!
Here's why. Because we're going to spank our leaders in the Democratic Party every chance we get, at every forum, and through the information super highway on a daily basis. They need to get it straight; they're our biaches (in a gender neutral sort of PC way)! Hang in there, be cranky at meetings, write derisive emails and, better yet, letters without vulgarity and let the Democrats in your area know you've had enough Musak and that your'e ready for METAL!

Corporate America controls the media and we get manufactured news.
Corporate America now controls the voting machines and we get manufactured elections.

My biggest fear is that DeLay will run next time. Rumsy's men will try to find some way to sweep this impending indictment under the rug and paint DeLay pretty as a picture. Oh and let's not forget, while we're all focused on the Peterson case, legislation was passed that will let DeLay KEEP his post, even if he IS indicted! It's amazing how much crappola 51% of Americans will take.

28. Yes, here's why.
Because Arnold will convert to born agangism. When you're reborn in the delusion of or profanation of Jesus, these folks give you an instant clean slate. It is the theological equivalent of the "neuralizer" from the first "Men in Black" (remember that pen shaped object that causes people to forget everything they know about a specific event or events).

The Constitution should be left alone. This guy is a dangerous force.

Given the chance to wear a leather gown to the Inaugural Ball. This is a very sick crew. She took her Alzheimer's father onto stages to support Arnold. Think about it. What won't she do. Seeing Sarge Shriver paraded around like that just make me sick. She's Arnold's Eva!
