Why won't the Marine Corps release the name of the troop who killed the defenseless prisoner? There's no requirement for secrecy, and the story won't go away.
What's going on here? There must be something embarrassing about this guy. Did they scrape the bottom of the barrel to get him?
because they haven't finished their investigations, yet. If they find he was not at fault (which, I think they will) then his name will never be released. If they go forward with charges, then they will almost have to give his name.
I don't think his family should have to suffer whatever retribution might be heaped upon them. They will have to endure enough pain in the coming months. (no, I'm NOT minimizing what the marine did - but his FAMILY didn't do it)
4. When or if he's charged, you'll learn his name.
CID has not completed its investigation, nor has any decision been made regarding criminal charges. Why the urgency to know what his name is, bearing all that in mind?
Actually I do understand the military - I was 11 Bravo in Vietnam and hated it. The whole military thing is pointless thuggery. Occasionally one of the thugs goes completely off the page and embarrasses the rest of them.
There's no defense for shooting a prisoner merely for breathing. This Marine will end up in Leavenworth, where he belongs. If there were any justice, Rusty Calley would be there too.
