1. Because THIS war is wrong
This country did not attack us. It did not have the capability to attack us. It was not going to attack us. The basis for going to war was that Iraq was aiding the terrorists. This was not true. Sadaam and Osama were enemies. Their followers were enemies...WERE.

6. Opposition to the war in Iraq
We did not finish the job in Afghanistan. Osama bin Laden was allowed to escape. We have fewer troops on the ground in Afghanistan than NYC has cops patrolling it. I could remember listening to the invasion of Iraq on the radio. A very sickening feeling was going through my gut. I just had the feeling that nothing good would come out of Iraq.

7. Because it isn't a war
It's an invasion, an optional invasion at that, to secure some of the best damn oil in the world, which apparently is easier than putting our minds and treasure towards developing affordable alternatives.

If you look at Iran, their best oil-purchasing customer is China, and China is getting very piggy indeed with the oil consumption (yes, we still are the boss hogs, but demand is starting to outpace supply in no small part because of Chinese demand). Eventually, all the Chinese will want what everyone seems to want--the car, the ability to prance about in one's underwear in a warmly heated house in winter, and all sorts of fun stuff that oil makes possible. Then, it comes down to who has control of the assets.

This is a short sighted way of getting ahead of the game. I'd prefer spending the energy and brains of the country on developing a better way, a renewable way.

8. Because the policy of invading and occupying Iraq,in order to
use it as a permanent base and staging area for invading and occupying it's neighbors is a policy that no legitimate government or the people of Iraq will ever support. Maybe with enough force Iraq can be made to submit to our will. A lot of things are possible if you use enough force. The question is if it's worth it. Even with unlimited force the resistance will never accept us or our puppet government. We should abandon this insane plan and make it clear that our bases in Iraq are temporary and not to be used for further invasions. Also I believe that the policy of holding Iraq together is a mistake. It should be allowed to divide into three separate countries so that each of the three ethnic groups can have their own nation. This would make for a much more stable outcome. What would Yugoslavia be like if our policy had been to hold it together?

9. 2. This war is idiotic
The dumbest war ever started by this country besides Vietnam.

And with the technology we have and what we knew before the war in Iraq, I'm starting to think this war is worse.

10. 2 & 5
This war is the worst thing we've ever done as country. Wrong on so many levels, it's hard to know where to begin. We should have learned from Vietnam and didn't learn anything.

So now we have 2 choices, leave the country and hope and pray it doesn't turn into Afghanistan. Stay, while participating in the most fucked up war plans ever, more fucked up than Vietnam.

I still don't understand why people keep thinking we're fighting the war on terror over there.

13. Because we have opened a can of worms
That is not going to be easy to close. This is probably the worst mistake our country has ever made. And I admit to being one of the ignorant people who thought that Iraq would be easily conquered. I wasn't happy about the war, but I really thought we would roll in there and they'd surrender and throw flowers at us. I have since educated myself and realize that I was misled.

14. I do not go off on all wars. This one is not right.
To tell the truth I can not see many that are right. Did you ever study or just have to read enough about WW1 to get through your history class? That one really sets you back . The number killed is just more than you can take. I will give us countries one big ribbon for smarts. After that they seemed to learn how not to kill the military but just the people who lived in the countries.I swear we must have killed off 10 million people in every army in the world in that one, but where as in the second WW we killed about 20 M people and maybe only 2 or 3 million military. That has to mean something. Now in Iraq we are doing even better, Little over 1000 military and about 100,000 people. We may never get Fullujah number into that. See what we have learned.
