Don't know if this was a repeat or not, but this just aired on the East Coast.
The tragedy of this war doesn't get any easier to take, especially when you watch these families go through the agony of reading their deceased children or spouses' declarations of love and regrets for not being able to be home. Reminiscent of Lila Lipscomb in Fahrenheit 9/11.
They were all profoundly touching, especially a 34-year-old father of two, who had a "bad feeling," when he wrote a farewell letter to his wife and children, thanking them for whatever happiness he had known, and asking forgiveness for leaving them.
This is an important program, on a basic human level. Whether it's practical or not, I'm becoming more of a pacifist all the time, keeping in mind that for every family that is suffering here, it's a safe bet that 10, 20 or 30 Iraqi families are going through the same thing. Victims on all sides. The sooner it ends, the better.
