My 1000th Post Wherein Our Current Dilemma is Explained
This explains much of what we are experiencing:

“The American citizen lives in a world where fantasy is more real than reality, where the image has more dignity than its original. We hardly dare face our bewilderment, because our ambiguous experience is so pleasantly iridescent, and the solace of belief in contrived reality is so thoroughly real. We have become eager accessories to the great hoaxes of the age. These are the hoaxes we play on ourselves.” Daniel Boorstin, The Image : A Guide to Pseudo-Events in America

The process Boorstin describes is a perfect guide to our current situation where a faux hero is more highly regarded than a real hero; a failed war on terror is prized above the realities of massive failure; and religious delusion gives comfort against the promise of science.

This, no doubt, is the process that causes us such frustration and makes our situation seem hopeless. Do not despair!

KNOWLEDGE IS POWER

Corporate America controls the media and we get manufactured news.
Corporate America now controls the voting machines and we get manufactured elections.
