I will admit that on November 3rd, I was pretty far down in the dumps. You win some and you lose some. Why we lost I don't know. I do know that 51% of voters don't require honesty from the White House before going to war, but do have the moral clarity to fear Mary Cheney. Beyond that, I'm not sure.

Friday I read something Elizabeth Edwards posted on the Internet. With all that was happening in her life, none of it good, she found the time to encourage us. It was part of a letter Thomas Jefferson had written in 1798 after the passage of the Sedition Act.

"A little patience, and we shall see the reign of witches pass over, their spells dissolve, and the people, recovering their true sight, restore their government to it's true principles. It is true that in the mean time we are suffering deeply in spirit, and incurring the horrors of a war and long oppressions of enormous public debt. If the game runs sometimes against us at home we must have patience till luck turns, and then we shall have an opportunity of winning back the principles we have lost, for this is a game where principles are at stake."

How proud I am to be a Democrat, and how sad for the nation that we have turned away the service of such true patriots. And how confident I am that our Democratic principles of strength, inclusion, and opportunity shall again prevail.

And I am proud that Guilford County went for Kerry. I didn't see any local news about problems counting the early vote here, something about it dumping 22,000 votes, did any of you see local coverage.

I think it is sad that I heard about it online first, but that is usually the case, and it is the number one reason I come to DU, to get the story before the news is fixed and then printed
