I've converted a Republican!

It was my mother. She was a lifelong registered Repub, but I am not sure how often she actually voted for them (I know she supported Reagan in 1980, but I think she was over him by 1984).

She raised me to believe in tolerance, equality, justice, and love for fellow man. I learned as I got older that she raised me more liberal than she actually was, and I was shocked!

Anyway, my sister and I (both union members and hard core Dems) began working on her, year after year and election after election, and we finally won her over after something ridiculous that Pete Wilson (former Gov. of CA) did. She re-registered Dem and now asks me for advice on how to vote before every election. Yeah!!

I tried w/ Fahrenheit 9/11, but the Republican I brought to the film came out merely more skeptical of Bush, but not converted.

I'm going to try to get some of my hometown homies to watch it with me when I go home for Thanksgiving. Wish me luck.

8. I've converted a couple

and Im in Fla. I had a lot of help from very good friends, but we've made some conversions.

I know of noone in Florida who voted Gore then moved to Bush, and the exit polls reflected my perception of the situation. Needless to say Im still in a state (State?) of confusion.

i don't think you quite understand the situation. It won't matter one goddamn bit how many conversions are done before the election, the electoral system is thoroughly broken.

I won't be doing any more conversions, personally, I will be moving to a non-Jesusland territory first then out of the country if necessary.

This election was stolen by corporate voting machines and we should all be in the streets right now protesting it. I've been screaming about this for more than a year now and but people (even other Dems) have not been taking this problem seriously. I do think that after all that's going on right now, in the very least we can get a paper trail if we demand it. It's going to be hard for them to oppose it after this. Ohio is suppose to have it in 2006 anyway. We still need to be getting people on our side even if the voting system is functional.

10. My brother used to be a Dem

but unfortunately he voted for the Bush Regime last week. I knew he was leaning that way, and I swear I did my damndest to lead him toward the light. Sadly, I wasn't successful. :cry:

we can't afford to lose any Dems --to Canada or to suicide.

So please reconsider. Think how hopeless it would have been to be a thinking person in Nazi Germany. And yet so many risked their own lives to hide their neighbors or join the underground.

We're not in that state yet (although I clearly think it is the path we are on), so let's fight in any way we can.

And here's a reason to convert others: if they do steal the next election, there will be that many more upset folks demanding a recount.
