NE TRAVAILLEZ JAMAIS!
Right now I'm studying the Situationist International for my 1960s class.

I think it's making me radical!

Who here thinks it may be time for a general strike?

Of course, that's easy for me to say, I don't have a job right now!!

Anyone else here familiar with the events in Paris in May of 1968?
Another French Revolution was narrowly averted. It's a fascinating story, I wonder why I never heard about it before?

Just kidding.

Unless you really have something you think I should say.

I'm responsible mostly for talking about COBRA and Asger Jorn's philosophies.

on edit: misspelled "Asger"

6. The SI was a movement that melded art and politics
and eventually exploded in May of 1968 in Paris.

It began as a student uprising against the government, but then the working class joined in. France was paralyzed for a time, the govenment was rendered temporarily helpless. It didn't last, though.
There was too much idealism and not enough practicality. They were more interested in making protest posters than in organizing for practical reform.

Reading about it gets my juices flowing, though!
:-)

9. We were assigned "The Society of the Spectacle"
I've read the first two chapters so far.

It's probably more true now than when Debord wrote it!!!

Awesome stuff!!
