It Can't Happen Here
Anyone read that 1935 novel?

Thoughts?

Insights?

Parallels?

Lots of aluminum foil? :-)

1. Years ago.
It was so simplistic. I thought it would never happen. But it has.

2. Simplstic by today's standards, anyway.
Personally, I think this country is not in a totally fascist state - but, and this is my observation, I think the groundwork is being laid for a fascist revolution to take place, in an attempt to keep the masses under control. But we're not a police state yet.

5. Well, we're not under martial law yet....
But try to congregate or protest in public and see how the police/state reacts. I think we're closer than you realize.......

8. I'm about a third of the way into it
There are certainly parallels...and attitudes haven't really changed all that much, have they? I'm at the brink of the election, and it looks as though Berzelius Windrip is going to win the election (gee...do you think? I mean there's enough fucking foreshadowing to choke a horse).

I gotta get ready for work.........
