Falwell is at it again...

This crap is incredible. We have got to do something about this. I just don't have any good ideas. I fear for long term viability of our secular society if these folks get their way.

2. I recall back when Ronnie was first elected..
How depressed I was then, at the prospect of the Moral Majority writing our laws and chosing our justices. A Repub friend tried to tell me that "people like Falwell..they'll lost power now". Well, they stuck around, and they not only regained it, but they have FAR MORE power than they ever did under Reagan!

All I remember is Churchill: "We shall fight them in the streets, we shall fight them on the beaches,... we shall never surrender!"

The "Moral Majority" is STILL neither!:grr:

:kick:

B-)

4. I would hope for a back lash
I would suspect that the majority of those that voted for Chimp are not fundie. As the fundies push for more radical changes, we may see a back lash against the GOP.

However, that is what I thought might happen with the election. We all know how that turned out.

5. Talk Loud, Talk Often, And Boycott GOP Businesses.
I spent an hour on a 800 number who I've done past business with. When I asked them which party they contributed to, they went into a tailspin. They ended up with a hang up call which I emailed their customer service. They are going to learn that democrats do spend money and a lot more selective. Still waiting for Swiss Colony to respond.

15. Yes, BOYCOTT BOYCOTT BOYCOTT!
And please buy from "little people" like me who sell on eBay for your Christmas gifts...people who are either out of work or disabled (as I am) really need the help. And contrary to what Dickhead Cheney says, eBay isn't the big cash cow he thinks it is. But if you buy from private individuals and crafters, as well as buying from Dem-supporting businesses, you'll help needy people AND hit the Repukes where it counts...in the wallet!

Keep running your mouth and letting America get an earful of what you're about. Apparently people have forgotten the '80s, and need a reminder.

the rabid pharisees have left us no choice but to speak out.

Let's hope his cholesterol and triple chins take care of him. He is getting too old to keep up the pace.

13. DUers: go to AU.org
Americans United for Separation of Church and State - Rev. Barry Lynn (actually has a doctorate in law too) - has a very amusing statement about Falwell being up to his old tricks. The more things change the more they stay the same. Read it. It is so funny.

14. Falwell is a modern day Pharisee
Like in the times of Jesus, he is too concerned about upholding the somewhat trivial "laws" of religion than he is about following the words and actions of Jesus.

16. Anyone Else See Falwell Hugging Rev. Moon?
Rev. Moon was supposed to have given Falwell $1,000,000 donation. The picture was not long ago when Rev. Moon was declared the "Messiah" on Capitol Hill! Incredible! This has to be a nightmare. I hope I wake up soon!

17. "Faith and Values Coalition" sounds like some type of official pledge...
...requirement among followers to show their allegence. Shades of past tyrants coming over this country:

A RESPONSE TO "WAS HITLER A CHRISTIAN?"

Recently, Christian Scholars and the clergy haved contended that the Holocaust happened because the Germans and the Nazis were "not real Christians." And even have tried to justify that, well, the "allies were christian!" and "they stopped the war" For your information, Popes after the later crusades haulted the crusaders from wasting their time, does that make the crusaders non christian? Your not making any sense. After reading this, you'd conclude that Hitler was a bigger Zealot than Pat Robertson.

"The national government ... will maintain and defend the foundations on which the power of our nation rests. It will offer strong protection to Christianity as the very basis of our collective morality." - Adolf Hiter, The Speeches of Adolph Hitler, 1922-1939, Vol. 1 (London, Oxford University Press, 1942), pg. 871-872.

"Today Christians ... stand at the head of Germany ... I pledge that I never will tie myself to parties who want to destroy Christianity .. We want to fill our culture again with the Christian spirit ... We want to burn out all the recent immoral developments in literature, in the theater, and in the press - in short, we want to burn out the poison of immorality which has entered into our whole life and culture as a result of liberal excess during the past ... (few) years." - Adolf Hitler. Ibid, pg. 871-872.

-------------------
By Michael Hakeem, Ph.D.

Going by what the Christian clergy teach about the virtues that the faith inspires, Nazism, Hitler's wars, and the Holocaust should not have been possible. Not only did they occur, but with insignificant and wavering exceptions, neither theologians, clergy, nor ordinary Christians as individuals, nor churches as corporate bodies, objected. In fact they overwhelmingly supported them. Look at three of the most distinguished German Protestant theologians--Gerhard Kittel, Paul Althaus, and Emanual Hirsch. These men were highly respected, extremely erudite, uncommonly productive, and internationally known professors, each at a different, first-class university.
