5 Most Outrageous Senators Of New Senate:
Edited on Thu Nov-11-04 12:44 AM by Jon8503
Tom Coburn - Oklahoma

The former doctor and three-term Congressman elected during the "Gingrich Revolution" of 1994 is undoubtedly the most right-wing member of his new Senate class. Coburn called his campaign against conservative Democrat Brad Carson "a battle of good vs. evil," suggested blacks have a genetic disposition toward a shorter life expectancy, and said "lesbianism is so rampant in some of the schools in southeast Oklahoma that they'll only let one girl go to the bathroom." Most noteworthy, Coburn favors "the death penalty for abortionists and other people who take life," explaining his ardent opposition by noting how his great-grandmother was raped by a territorial sheriff. Not surprisingly, he earned a 97 percent lifetime approval rating from the American Conservative Union (ACU).

Jim DeMint - South Carolina

A fellow three-term fundamentalist Christian Congressman, DeMint caused an uproar in his race against Democrat Inez Tenenbaum by saying that homosexuals and pregnant women with live-in boyfriends should be forbidden to teach in public schools. He opposes abortion even in the case of rape or incest and doesn't think gays should be able to adopt. A virulent supporter of strong national defense and unfettered free trade, DeMint told his opponents in a Republican primary debate to "stop whining about job losses." He advocates a flat federal income tax and co- sponsored a bill in the House to raise the national sales tax to a whopping 23 percent. DeMint matched Coburn's 97 percent lifetime rating from the ACU.

That's the scarriest part, maybe even worse than Bush "winning".

3. These two are scarier than arbusto
Are we in some sort of scary time warp? What is with these men?!?! Women can't cohabitate if they teach in public schools? Gays can't teach?

This is downright scary.... how did these fools get elected?

5. Geez..
:puke: :puke:

Two of these five wouldn't be out of place in jail, and the other three belong in a mental institution! Coburn and DeMint make Santorum look tame! We are really in a dark age. And we came out of those before - we will come out of this one.

6. these Senate races were a bigger indication of our problem in the South

and other republican areas.

the candidates in these senate races were all southerners who know the place. the democratic candidates came across well, the knew the issues, and of the debates i saw they all kicked ass. i can even understand conservatives like lindsey graham, lamar alexander or john sununu getting support even though i disagree with them. but these new guys are the type i would have thought been rejected based on their extremism . yet they all won.

another one to add to the list is bunning of kentucky who won re-election even though he admitted to not reading news and not knowing about the munity in iraq. he said his opponent looked like saddam's son. he was caught cheating in the debates. and in the end his campaign starting saying his opponent was gay.

7. Only reason I clicked the link was to see if Mel Martinez was
named on this list and sure enough he was. The weasel used every dirty trick in the repub sleaze book during his campaign against Betty Castor. He accused her of things he was guilty of and she wasn't. Typical lowlife son of a Bushite.

8. It is so embarrassing to be from Oklahoma
I MUST move! This guy is so psycho even my * voting mother thought so. But, he won. Says a lot about where this country is headed. Oklahoma also passed the anti-gay marriage amendment by a whopping 79%.

Coburn also admitted to medicaid fraud for failing to report that he'd sterilized a young woman he operated on for an ectopic pregnancy. Apparently medicaid would not have covered the cost of the operation if he'd included the sterilization procedure. But gee he was just helping a poor woman out so she wouldn't get stuck with the bill he'd send her for permanently sterilizing her <sarcasm off> He admits he did not get written consent, but received oral consent. She denies this! The young woman lost her malpractice suit (he says/she says?).

anyone want to adopt me???
